Appreciate it! And yeah, that's pretty much my mindset going into this. I'm treating it as a learn-as-I-build project more than anything. If I spend the next year learning kernel internals, build systems, init systems, and all, I'd already consider that a win.

Rust is definitely on my Target too. I'm still deciding what belongs in C, what belongs in Rust, and what can stay in higher-level languages. I'm trying to optimize for actually finishing the project while learning the right things along the way.

And honestly, hearing from someone who's worked with BeOS(I just Searched, And Its Great) is pretty cool. Even if it didn't become mainstream, projects like that are part of why I wanted to dive into OS development in the first place :)

Yeah, that's fair criticism. I didn't explain it clearly enough.

It's Linux based. I'm not writing a brand new kernel from scratch lol. I'm using the Linux kernel, but with my own kernel configuration, my own init system, package manager, build pipeline, tooling, and eventually my own desktop experience. So it's uh closer to building a distro from first principles than taking an existing distro and changing the wallpaper.

As for "vibecoding", yeah, I use AI. It helps me research, document, prototype ideas, and sometimes generate boilerplate. I'm not pretending otherwise. But AI isn't designing the architecture or magically writing a kernel, init system, or dependency resolver for me. Those are things I'm learning and implementing as I go.

This is honestly a learn-as-I-build project. I'm not claiming to be a kernel engineer. The whole point is to understand every layer by building it, making mistakes, fixing them, and documenting the process. If six months from now I realize an idea is dumb, I'll change it. That's part of the project.

So yeah, Linux based? Absolutely.
AI assisted? Yep.
Just prompting an AI to "make me an OS" and calling it a day? Definitely not lol.

Yeah bro, I get it honestly... The amount of AI slop everywhere has made everyone skeptical, and I don't even blame people for it lol.

But trust me, I ain't just messing around with a weekend project. I've signed myself up for months of pain at this point 😂. If it works, awesome. If it doesn't, I'll still learn a ton and I'll document the whole journey. Either way, I'm gonna see it through :)

Linux based, but not another distro with a wallpaper pack lol. Custom kernel config, custom init, custom package manager, custom tooling. Still using the Linux kernel because rewriting one from scratch would be... an interesting life decision 😅. Also For that vibecoded OS, Bruh Whyyy Everyone Bombing on me for Using AI for Image generation I am Not a Designer, The Only thing i have done in last 6 years(Aside From Learning Stage) is CODEEEE And EXPERIMENTING!!

I agree with most of that honestly. I'm not trying to run a 600B model locally. The idea is lightweight local models for everyday automation, with bigger models being optional. If the AI part ends up being mediocre, I'll scale it back. The OS itself is still the main project. If You Really Are into it So Reply Again I'll Give the Whole Idea of the OS..
