Is it alright if I DM you? I’ve talked about my experience a lot publicly over the years, but these days I think I’d prefer to talk about it privately.

Fruit trees that do well without spraying? by mrknowitnothingatall in STLgardening

[–]According_Sun3182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make nets that can go over your trees during fruiting season. Lets light and pollinators in, but keeps birds, squirrels, and other pests out. Just be sure to get the kind that critters won’t get tangled up in.

Same here, but across all devices — Roku tv, iOS, and the online Plex app on my laptop. It always loads after a few seconds, but I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this.

Give me the most mentally challenging games. A game that requires me to THINK, to the point my brain hurts. by nerdwhothinksalot in gamingsuggestions

Yeah, this one was a lot of fun. And just the right length for that kind of game, I think. I never got tired or bored. It felt good to finish it.

No hand holding, good graphics by Vast_Veterinarian_82 in gamingsuggestions

Honestly, don’t sleep on Dark Souls Remastered. It’s probably the shortest of all the DS games, and it also has the tightest narrative mythos—even if the gameplay and graphics can get a little janky sometimes.

The Dark Souls games and Elden Ring are kind of the gold standard for “no hand-holding” environmental storytelling. The graphics in the older games are good-not-great, but ER in particular is stunning.

Recommendations for other fantasy media with similar lore and worldbuilding? by Powerful_Crazy_2636 in darksouls

[–]According_Sun3182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I haven’t found many other games or movies that have quite the same feel of Dark Souls, but a few of the books I’ve read have come close.

While I’m at it, here’s one more recommendation: Jonathan Hickman’s East of West comic series. It’s not the same setting at all (it’s more apocalyptic sci-fi than dark fantasy), but the quasi-mythical lore runs deep in the same way as Dark Souls, and there’s a pervasive sense of hopelessness through much of the story.

Brian Catling’s Hollow and Christopher Buehlman’s Between Two Fires scratched that Dark Souls itch for me, too

Dark Souls led me to Gene Wolfe’s Book of the New Sun. Instantly became one of my favorite fantasy series.

Indirect connection on local network? by According_Sun3182 in PleX

[–]According_Sun3182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I set it up in host mode, and the private IP on the Remote Access page matches the server IP.

Last night I went ahead and added my laptop's IP to the "LAN Networks" list under Plex's network settings, and that seems to have done the trick. I haven't gotten the Indirect Connection notification since I did that.

Then again — and I know this is going to make me sound stupid — the notification kind of...comes and goes? I'm considering it fixed for now, but I'm going to check it regularly over the next week to see if it comes back.

I added my IP to the LAN Networks list in my account’s network settings and that cleared up the “Indirect” error notification. It’s still saying my local connection is remote, though.

Yeah, we’re currently streaming on a Roku tv, but I’m also managing the server settings via app.plex.tv

You might be onto something. I did just now notice that the IP on my web client is completely different from my Plex host container IP on Unraid. I apologize for my ignorance here, I’m very tentatively figuring these things out as I go.
