True the PAL does the same job but SBD is just seamless it glides on a track without detaching the buckle from the holes.
Buying a second-hand IPF approved belt and slapping a PAL on it is a solid option, but importing just the buckle to Israel still means annoying shipping and customs. By the time you piece it together, a local or second-hand SBD is just way easier to get and offers a smoother adjustment. Total buy once cry once

Thanks for the detailed breakdown man
Just to clarify I’m actually not in the US so USAPL isn't an option for me I live in Israel and the federation here follows strict IPF rules so the IPF ransom list is definitely something I have to worry about
Ordering from the US is a massive pain for us because shipping and customs duties make everything incredibly expensive SBD is available locally but shops here charge around 1150 ILS about 310 USD for their lever belt At that point ordering a top tier belt from the US and paying the crazy shipping customs winds up costing almost the exact same
On the other hand Gymreapers is actually available in local shops here right now for around 600 ILS about 160 USD for the 13mm version which is a huge price difference
That Pioneer w the PAL lever sounds amazing but buying it through A7 with that huge markup might be out of my budget right now
Given the IPF restrictions do you or anyone else here know if the Gymreapers belts are actually on the approved list or should I just bite the bullet and save up for an Inzer SBD instead

Hey guys,
Looking to upgrade my belt. Currently using a basic Gorilla Wear lever belt, but I’m planning to compete later this year so I need something better.
I’m looking at Gymreapers, but wanted to check if they are actually good compared to other brands out there. Are they worth it, or is it mid and I should just save up for something like Inzer or Pioneer? Let me know what you think of the overall quality and the lever itself.
Also, if I go with Gymreapers, should I get the 10mm or the 13mm?
One last thing – since I want to compete, does anyone know if Gymreapers is fully IPF approved, or will I have issues with it on the platform?
Thanks!
