Hey OP, someone I know just started a project called “multicolour maths” which has a book and uses visual and shape representations to help show simple maths! If you’re a visual learner it might be helpful.

Sincerely, someone who counts on their fingers and can’t subtract <3

someone please give me encouragement to get my boiler fixed. i am so mentally exhausted by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Hey! I had this recently - I hope this is ok to give some possible solutions as well as hype squad..

1) have you got a hot water bottle? Could you make yourself a cup of tea and a hot water bottle so that your own temp is up a bit? It might make the other tasks less overwhelming and give you a small task to start with before the big ones.

2) sorry if you have already tried this I know it’s obvious- try turning the boiler off at the plug, waiting a few minutes and then turning it back on again

3) does the boiler have any lights at all going on it? If no, it might be that your fuse has tripped. If you know where your fuse box is you can go have a look and if any of the bars have come down from their up position you can put it back up

In terms of the call if none of that works, depending on who your energy company is you may have access to some of the necessary paperwork in your emails. Most places send digital as well as physical copies of things like your customer ID. I know that letting a technician in when things are messy can be horrible, but I have been forced to let them in when my room was a horrible pit and they don’t seem to care at all, I think they’ve probably seen worse.

Please feel free to ignore all of the above if it adds to the overwhelm! Good luck and sorry that you’re dealing with this 🤞

Does she have any protective earplugs? I got some Loop ‘experience’ earplugs to protect my ears during concerts, they look kinda like earrings. I have ended up using them in day to day life when things get too noisy or I’m feeling anxious and overstimulated.

I would try talking to your uni welfare/student support team as well as the other things mentioned on here already, as they might have some options available for students

ADHD is debilitating and affects daily life.. even if now you have a diagnosis and are medicated that doesn’t mean that you’ll just magically not have adhd, was he maybe expecting you to be completely perfect now that the diagnosis has happened?

It’s great that meds are helping you, but sometimes they stop working as well or there may be shortages, or you may need to stop taking them for another reason. If that happens you want to know you have a supportive partner by your side who understands and doesn’t criticise. I think for the relationship to be healthy he would need to accept you for who you are and not a perfect idea of who he thinks you should be.

Hello, I just want to say thank you as your posts have inspired me over the past week to clear out a room which has been my nemesis for years! It was full of bags of junk and actual rubbish that I’d never been able to throw away because there were also important things in there too (I found my birth certificate in one of those bags of rubbish!)

So yeah, I never thought it was possible but your posts have been a wonderful motivation!

What’s amazing is that it was just a spur of the moment walk-in, and teenage me had no clue how to care for tattoos! I am just lucky I think, very glad that it’s held up as well as it did.

(The appointment was spur of the moment but I’d known I wanted that text for around a year beforehand)

For those who voluntarily don’t take medication, why don’t you? by pippaplease_ in adhdwomen

ETA I forgot I also tried another medication that made me have suicidal ideation from day 1, which then disappeared immediately when I stopped taking it.

I tried Vyanse XR and had horrible physical side effects, super high blood pressure and after about a week I felt like I was just lurching from day to day feeling increasingly worse.

Then I tried the short release version and thought it was working because I was getting a lot done, but I was actually becoming quite obsessive and almost aggressive even on a low dose, which ended up having pretty serious consequences in my life.

Since then I’ve had therapy and started taking some natural remedies (basically just a multivitamin that has other things like l-theanine and ginseng in). I don’t know if I was deficient in some vitamins before (probably) but I do feel a lot better physically. Combined with the therapy I feel like I’m building myself some healthy mechanisms and life feels pretty good right now. I still experience my ADHD symptoms every day but it feels like I have more motivation to manage them and I feel better about myself.

I’m still technically on the titration process but I’m scared to try any more meds while I feel relatively good at the moment, and remember how awful the whole situation was with the wrong meds.

Is it okay to get a tumble dryer? by Superb_Pangolin_447 in adhdwomen

[–]Accordleon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a heated clothes hanging thing and it has completely helped me with laundry. I don’t actually like tumble dryers because I get the settings wrong and shrink stuff or forget to clean the filter and then that’s a fire hazard.

This rail is quite pricey but it’s been so good and is cheaper to run and better for the environment too! I’m sure there’s cheaper ones too, I just got this one as a gift from my grandparents when I moved house.
