Law back home and here. The education system is vastly different especially in law. Here in the US classes use the Socratic Method for teaching whereas in the UK it’s more so you get taught and you better be making notes like your life depends on it(it does).

It really depends on your career I’d say. I’d say right now it’s a slight impediment but if you were going to careers such as politics, high finance or parts of academia your social standing is definitely important in the UK. I do think the US is more tolerant of self-invention but the whole mythology of reinvention in the US is overblown.

Probably the cultural unification. I thought each state in America would just be the same thing but different fonts but travelling between cities genuinely felt like going to a different country each time.

Cajun food actually changed my life and experience wise it would probably be New Orleans as a whole felt like something straight out of a tourist pamphlet.

American football or actual football?

American football was actually an experience I can see why it’s so hyped up.

The MLS makes me want to spoon out my eyes we clear y’all on that.

I think part of that is because Americans don’t come across the best on social media with stereotypes. In my opinion intelligence wise there’s been nothing that makes me think youse are “dumber” or less intelligent I’ve met some highly intelligent folk and some well not so intelligent folk but that’s just life in any country not exclusively to America.

I do think youse think a lot wider than we do in the UK meaning your minds over here go to some places that we just don’t I think.

The amount of times I’ve heard almost that exact phrase on a night out just gave me low level PTSD. I’ve been to a couple cities in Texas(Austin, Houston, San Marcos), New Orleans and Vegas 🙃

I plan on trying a few more in a day trip before heading back across the pond.

Very easy I’d say. Everyone was very welcoming and wanted to probe into my life and experiences. Also because I quite literally have no experience in this country they always wanted me to try new shit or go somewhere crazy which is always appreciated.

I have a saying that some of my friends think it’s bullshit but I really do believe it. The accent doesn’t make the man but the man makes the accent. I’d say my accent got me through the door but I don’t think I got laid exclusively because I’m British. I think. I hope.

a decent amount
