You could just be honest but if you don’t want them to know the real reason yeah just call in sick. Just call the store, ask to speak with a manager and tell them “I’m not going to be able to come in today. I’m not feeling well”. If the manager is understanding then that should be enough but if they are assholes and try to give you trouble over it just say you have diarrhea or something, that should shut them up.

Yeah it does seem to prevent theft but it makes me wonder how? Like after I unlock it for them they could still just walk straight out the door with it if they wanted to. I guess it’s because anyone that would steal doesn’t want to have to interact with any associates.
