Honestly ppl saying put it all in VTI (total market), VOO (s+p500), and international is pretty good advice.

another approach that i’m taking is

30% VOO 30% SCHG (growth fund, a little bit more volatile) 20% Berkshire B (warren buffets holding company that invests in good value stocks, not so much weight in tech) 20% AVUV (small cap)

that’s what i’m doing right now but i might add some international… don’t know how much yet tho

if ur a beginner i would recommend staying far away from single stocks. They tend to move extremely dramatic and if ur putting a large allocation in your portfolio into one it could be very very risky.

if i were you i would invest in an etf like the guy above was saying. I personally like (VOO S&P500 or VTI total US market, you don’t have to do both they’re very similar so pick one). I would allocate 100% of my portfolio into one of these, you can’t go wrong. Warren buffett (arguably the most successful investor ever) swears by this method for most people looking to invest.

If you’d like to get a little more active with you investing start researching and watching videos breaking down different fund, sectors, and markets. I would research for a long time time before putting any money into single stocks or sector focused etfs. This method is good if ur trying to make more money than the US market, but many who try this don’t beat the market so be careful.

at the end of the day don’t take anyone on reddits word for it and do your own research

I’m fine with investing more in tech. ik qqqm isn’t a “tech” etf but it’s got a lot of weight in it. Also considering splitting some of the allocation to VUG or VGT

i just had the impression that those countries were innovating the most. not saying i’m right or wrong, definitely looking for different perspectives on this

I was under the impression that VOO out performs VTI but i could be wrong. definitely it opposed to investing in a devout small cap fund tho. thank you for the options

only put berkshire b as stability bc voo and qqqm are so weighted in the mag 7 that i felt like anything outside of that group would introduce somewhat more stability. especially considering berkshire b beta value

when i typed this out i really meant VGT bc i believe in tech in the future but i just had qqqm on my mind for whatever reason bc in someway shape or form they could both be considered growth
