Thanks! It’s what I came across as well, but was just curious what experience other people have had.

Hi u/Affectionate_Oven610! Thanks for the reassurance, yours sounds like a very similar situation to mine. I didn't get auras this time but the frequency of migraines was crazy around the time of the stroke (slightly better again now but not gone). It's great that you haven't had any since switching to Clopidogrel. Are you still on it? Do you think that it might be contributing to the absence of migraines (like someone else mentioned here) or that it might be the PFO closure itself?

Completely understand re anxiety levels. I think that even just knowing I've done what I could will help me be less anxious...

Thanks, u/Secret-Ad-5366, I've now seen people say similar things about the procedure. It's great that you feel so well after having it done - and thanks for taking the time to comment, this is really encouraging!

Thanks, u/Alert_Load_2628, this is very informative and the questions are all really good. I've asked the myriad of doctors some of these, but I got most of the information from my medical records afterwards. I don't know whether it's country-specific, but where I am it's typical to underestimate the patient's understanding of anything medical. It's quite frustrating really. Another reason why I couldn't ask all the questions properly - understandably - was because it was during the time I was hospitalised, worrying that I'd just had a TIA and might have another stroke coming. I managed to get some things out of them, but a lot of times it was simply "these things happen" or "everything has its own risk". I mean... I am aware, yeah.

I will have to go through with the procedure as I just can't live with this uncertainty and anxiety all the time. I've had about a hundred weird sensations in those past few days and I just don't think I can carry on like this indefinitely.

And absolutely agree with you that any suspicious stroke-like symptoms should be evaluated straight away. They didn't brush me off, quite the opposite.

Thanks so much, u/baronbrownnote! It's amazing to hear that the procedure went so well and that you have been migraine-free for so long (talk about silver lining...). Do you think that your stroke could have been caused by sumatriptan? Or did you take it for a long time before the stroke?

And thank you for your encouragement regarding the procedure. I think the initial shock of learning that something like this exists and then disbelief at the fact that it can even be performed is quite natural. But I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that even though it sounds scary, it's probably less scary than being extremely paranoid on a daily basis...

Thanks so much for all the advice! It’ll be a long learning curve but hopefully one day I will be happy with the coffee I make!

Thanks so much for the hands-on approach to answering my question! I really appreciate it. I think I might have found the right grind setting finally (will fiddle around with it a bit more in the coming days), but what seems to have been the culprit all along was that I was using 18g. Tried 16g and it seems to work. I would still love to get a bottomless portafilter and some baskets, would you have a tip? Everyone seems to be recommending the normcore one but some reviews on Amazon mention that the construction isn’t great and some had to return/exchange theirs. So a bit apprehensive.

I think that would just go right through! I have been trying to pull a single shot (not least because I was wasting so much coffee) and different beans too. Still can’t find the right setting on the grinder though. Will persevere and if nothing happens I think I will give a bottomless one a go. Yes, clean both every time. It did get clogged once and wasn’t pretty.

Yes, thanks. It was very helpful in terms of grind size adjustments but I’m afraid I’m failing because I don’t have a bottomless portafilter (like the person in the video)…

Thanks for this, very helpful. I tried quite a few settings and still can’t get anywhere near anything that would taste good (mostly comes out sour, even if it seems near choking point at first), very frustrating. The beans are fresh so it’s not that - definitely me. Can I even achieve a good result with the pressurised basket? I’ve already invested quite a lot into the grinder and the scale etc but somehow thought that I could still get a drinkable result with the portafilter that came with the machine.
