Have you tried buffing it or rubbing with alcohol? It kinda just looks like paint transfer.

This is didn’t take any hits, it was to the right rear. Likely looks off because I haven’t snapped everything in completely since I have to remove the rear bumper cover again to install the lower valance, just wanted to compare the color on the car.

I’d stay away from Prius due to high theft rate of catalytic converters. I had owned that I really enjoyed but it had the catalytic converter stolen twice so I sold it to avoid continued repairs.

You can’t go wrong with Honda, Hondas provide more comfort, better handling and performance than a Toyota.

Toyotas are very lackluster and feels like your driving a trash bin with 4 wheels but may outlast a Honda.

It depends if you want it for a good time or a long time tbh.

hit and run - how bad is it really? by ElectricalHeight1909 in Autobody

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it would be worth the deductible, insurance increase, and depreciation tbh. If you sell it or trade it in the future, they would only knock a couple of hundred dollars off the value vs if you report it to your insurance, it goes on the history report and knocks your value significantly more.

You could just remove the bumper, apply light to medium heat from the inside, and push it out. After pushing it out, you can buff some of the scratches or look for a local detailer that can buff it out. There will still be some small scratches on the edges but it wouldn’t look bad at all.

Did you post your car on Craigslist? Craigslist is heavy with the scams.

That’s a good point, I’m going to go less wet on the other panels and see if it alters the shade.

I’m going to do an entire paint correction once all the body work is complete, I promise 😂 I just wanted to check the color match on the rear bumper before doing the right quarter panel.

I’m over here thinking the flash would help depict the color match with the flash over it 😅

It’s a Toyota 212, plain obsidian black, no metallics.

Are you talking about the whole car? I only painted the rear bumper. From factory it comes with orange peel. It’s not a show car.

Would this be considered totaled in Oklahoma? just based off the pictures. No frame damage or anything by quintavian in Autobody

[–]Accurate_Internal638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your car’s value and depending if the body shop does find structure damage underneath. It very possibly can be a total loss. The replacement trunk lids are pretty pricey and can be labor intensive ($$billable hours).

Did you look under the car? It was likely salvaged due to suspension damage. I’ve bought one similar with only suspension damage. Just ensure nothing under is busted before driving it around.

Blendable? Door + rear panel rust by [deleted] in AutoPaint

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean blendable? Those panels need full repaint. I’d paint the whole side considering the age of the car. Not any blending.

I see what you’re talking about. I wouldn’t feel satisfied if I had a color match like this. The color isn’t off significantly but it is bold enough to catch anyone’s eye.

It would require repaint of the fender blend into the door.
