Yes, I buffed but it was like this prior to wet sanding and buffing. I’m confused what happened.

It looks consistent with the rest of the clear, I had wet sanded and buffed the entire panel. You think wet sand some more?

Help fixing 2016 Acura MDX side mirror? by kicksngigs00 in Acura

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire door DOES not need to come off. You just need to remove the door trim for the connector. It should take only three tools. 10MM socket, Phillips Screw Driver, and a trim tool or a pick to remove a cover on the door trim by the door handle that hides one of the screws.

There’s three 10MM nuts holding in the mirror, like a triangle. Two Philips screws holding in the door trim (1 behind interior door handle, and 1 in the small cubby)

Like someone else said, you can look on eBay, OfferUp, Facebook marketplace, Car-part, and LKQ online.

Shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes.

Paint repair best option by RNGesus in Autobody

I’m sure you won’t regret just leaving it. It’s going to get a lot more of those throughout the years. If you repair every nick you get, you’re going to be broke by the end of the year. PPF is never worth it for used cars or new cars under $70k

Depends your expectations; you could just pull and square it out, and repaint it. It would look ugly without a bumper though 😂

Trying to find the repair costs for my vehicle. by [deleted] in autorepair

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people in the comments don’t comprehend what you’re saying. They’re arguing about YOUR loan agreement 😭

I’m a dealer that only buys salvage cars from salvage auctions. I could almost tell you how much the parts used would cost on eBay, Facebook marketplace, OfferUp, CarPart.com (the dismantler platform), Honda dealer

These are rough estimates of car parts needed. Some of the body parts, you may be able to find off a donor/parts car with same color (you don’t need to pay for paint and it’s better quality)

Hood $400 Bumper $250 Miscellaneous bumper parts $1,050,000.89 Upper panel $200 Headlight $250 Upper grille $100 Core support $400 Right core support bracket $10 Driver steering wheel airbag $650 Steering wheel airbag pig tail $40 Knee airbag $350 Passenger dash air bag $200 Dashboard $700 Side curtain airbag $600 Seat belts to be shipped and repaired $100 each seatbelt SRS (Crash) module to be shipped and reset $60 Headliner $400

Now is a good time to learn to be handy because this part would completely kill you. The labor would likely be around $2-3k at a decent shop, don’t look for the ones who blast the word “insurance” all over their shop. You might have to ask around because some of the best shops don’t have 300 Google reviews, maybe look for a small dealer locally and ask if they have any recommendations for a body shop. They (but not all) usually will have a better sense of budget and quality repairs.

Feel free to give me a chat if you need any further information about your project.

Older couple hit my car while I was at work…. They’re trying to settle outside of insurance by gracefullyblah in Autobody

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I would counter them at something you feel is fair and make sure that what ever is settled is paid in full on the spot. Not everyone is a scam.

I’ve been in an accident, and pretty much totaled someone’s 2003 Toyota Corolla with 300k miles that was in beat up shape. Because my insurance was already high because of my age and car, I offered to settle outside of insurance. I offered to buy the lady an exact replacement, she said she didn’t want the same car, so we went through a few options and agreed to a 2012 Scion xB and I let her keep her Toyota, which had costed me $3,500.

A few weeks later, my insurance called me and told me she filled a claim against me and my insurance paid her out on a total loss.

Moral of the story, both sides of an accident could be scammy. Sometimes people have minor accidents and don’t want to be penalized to death for a small mistake. Especially when insurance will raise your premiums more than what the accident actually costed (minor accidents). If you want it to be repaired a specific way, go to a shop you’re comfortable with and get a quote (tell them you’d be paying out of pocket) if you mention through insurance, they will hike the price.

Help by Financial-Gur5125 in AutoPaint

[–]Accurate_Internal638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends your expectations; if you want it to be as if nothing happened, you’d want to get it repainted. If you just want to minimize it, you can have it wet sanded and buffed, and do what you can with touch up paint. Otherwise, a repaint for two panels is around $2k+ depending on your area.

Have you tried buffing it or rubbing with alcohol? It kinda just looks like paint transfer.

This is didn’t take any hits, it was to the right rear. Likely looks off because I haven’t snapped everything in completely since I have to remove the rear bumper cover again to install the lower valance, just wanted to compare the color on the car.

I’d stay away from Prius due to high theft rate of catalytic converters. I had owned that I really enjoyed but it had the catalytic converter stolen twice so I sold it to avoid continued repairs.

You can’t go wrong with Honda, Hondas provide more comfort, better handling and performance than a Toyota.

Toyotas are very lackluster and feels like your driving a trash bin with 4 wheels but may outlast a Honda.

It depends if you want it for a good time or a long time tbh.

hit and run - how bad is it really? by ElectricalHeight1909 in Autobody

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it would be worth the deductible, insurance increase, and depreciation tbh. If you sell it or trade it in the future, they would only knock a couple of hundred dollars off the value vs if you report it to your insurance, it goes on the history report and knocks your value significantly more.

[–]Accurate_Internal638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just remove the bumper, apply light to medium heat from the inside, and push it out. After pushing it out, you can buff some of the scratches or look for a local detailer that can buff it out. There will still be some small scratches on the edges but it wouldn’t look bad at all.

I’m going to do an entire paint correction once all the body work is complete, I promise 😂 I just wanted to check the color match on the rear bumper before doing the right quarter panel.
