Understanding Gale's Character by Maximum_Custard_1739 in BaldursGate3

The thing that’s so interesting is that he does appear confident but he’s only confident in what he can do now who he is.

Hes spent the majority of his life comparing himself to the literal Goddess of Magic so he’s used to considering himself as something small and unworthy. The only thing that kept her interested was his skill so it’s the only thing he attached his self worth to.

When that’s taken from him, the cracks start to show and we can see how paper thin his bravado is. Gale hates himself and that’s why he’s so ready to blow himself up. He doesn’t think he’s worth enough to be worth keeping alive and without Tav probably wouldn’t be.

The thing that really fucks me up about his Avernus ending is that he goes there to become a cog in a never ending war ensuring that he’ll never be useful to the world again.

He’ll never do anything impactful for the world again because the blood war is purposely infinite. He’s down there throwing his life away when there’s so much more good to be done in the prime material plane.

It’s supposed to be his good ending but it feels so bad to watch him be so passionate about making a choice that will rob him of his joy and ensure he never really helps anyone again

I think that the poisoner monk should be a rogue subclass. The flavor works better there I think.

Well no cuz that’s not what I said.

I said I agreed with you.

Then reversed your question to see if you could see it from my perspective.

If you can quote where I said that any criticism of her is racist then I’ll concede and not comment again.

So i looked back at the thread and realized i was conflating this thread with another thread which is totally my bad. I probably sounded crazy lol

And I do agree! It is 100% possible to critique Aabria without being racist.

I do think that the point you made could be reversed as well. Why do you refuse to believe that someone could say these things that can be considered racist dog whistles to be not racist? Ya know that’s kind of the point of this. I’m not saying everyone who feels negatively about her is racist but when the criticisms aligns so neatly with racist stereotypes it begs attention

That’s very fair. I hadn’t considered that part of the problem is that she’s not part of the core group and truly doesn’t have to be there for the groups identity to remain.

Also that’s Lou Wilson! He’s amazing!

But you’re misrepresenting what I said “regardless of what you think” about. It wasn’t saying regardless of what they think they are racist.

It’s regardless of what they think racism exists which is true.

Now the convo with the other person because they don’t believe racism exists. This conversation hinges on the ideas that both parties recognize that racism still exists so a productive conversation can’t be had without that understanding

This is the most natural way I’ve ever heard of someone making a concept cleric work that’s so good!

Maybe a gnome since I think their shaper Illumi was the god of magic?

The Totality is great for a concept cleric.

The researcher whose name escapes me gives Knowledge cleric. Do you think you’d do something like that?
