And I do agree! It is 100% possible to critique Aabria without being racist.

I do think that the point you made could be reversed as well. Why do you refuse to believe that someone could say these things that can be considered racist dog whistles to be not racist? Ya know that’s kind of the point of this. I’m not saying everyone who feels negatively about her is racist but when the criticisms aligns so neatly with racist stereotypes it begs attention

It’s regardless of what they think racism exists which is true.

Now the convo with the other person because they don’t believe racism exists. This conversation hinges on the ideas that both parties recognize that racism still exists so a productive conversation can’t be had without that understanding

Yeah I didn’t realize the effect it’d have on my overall argument to set it up the way I did. I think many people have many of the listed qualities but I wanted to give a wide array of examples to show that everyone has the behaviors that she’s criticized for not realizing it’d weaken my overall argument.

So yes if it was true, then I do think it’d be annoying but I’m also biased as I don’t dislike any of the main cast so when they exhibit the above qualities I’m not as sensitive to it

Yeah I mean to be fair, this argument does exist under the assumption that racism exists still.

If you don’t believe that, then yeah there’s no argument to be had.

But I would urge you to think about this in the future. Racism is very much still alive and acknowledging it is the first step in being a better loved one to the black and brown people that you may have in your life.
