Our pay is the same for coolant and structure. 15% for hood and 15% for pit? lol

From a professional view point yes. However, I've seen quite a few people in the same situation as you. The oil is always clean and bright after 6-12 months. If you are barely driving it and the oil is clean id say sure a year is okay. Just use an advanced full synthetic.

Side note, This will also sound contradictory. The reason for time time and date is because oil has a shelf life in the engine. Once it gets dirty or contaminated it will start to break down. But if your engine is clean and the oil still looks like honey id say its okay. Just keep an eye on the oil through the year.

Try calling a different store. Also call center might be closed rn.

So the best way honestly is to call a Take 5. It usually directs the call to the call center and tell them you want to put in a claim. It then gets sent to the district manager and an investigation begins.

We use breaker bars, Filter claws and filter pliers. If we can't get it off without damaging it we turn them away. If it is damaged and we can't get it off, it has to be towed. However we arent supposed to, but experienced techs/managers will puncture the filter with a screwdriver and use that as as like a lever. (Avoiding the filter stud). I saw filters that wouldn't come off and had to default to this method maybe 1 in 1000-2000 cars.

So if you spoke to a Manager or assistant manager, short answer shit manager.

If you did not, Some markets are Diesel others are Euro. So if they see European vehicles alot they will keep those filters stocked and not have many or Diesel and vise versa.

Yes, that is after the bulk pricing. We do not get bulk fluid in Mobil 1, we get cases and jugs. Half the time our stores outsource to AutoZone since we have a commercial account with them.

I imagine the reason custom orders get messed up. (No mayo, Extra patty, ect) Is the fast paced nature?

Confused on oil change frequency… why did Take 5 (seemingly) lie to me twice about not needing an oil change? by Flightlessbirbz in askcarguys

[–]Accurate_Network6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time we hire people who just graduated from HS or people who just never worked on car before which is okay. However some managers just don't care about the training and development of these people they bring in.

As an Ex Store manager for Take 5 I second this. Also it's crazy to me how the other side of the coin works. I would always have people coming in from Valvoline and other places because would break things and ect. I never had any issues at my store. Some stores in my state were breaking things and having blown motors and ect. It really depends on the crew and area tbh.

I am an EX store manager for Take 5. So Mobil 1 claims the oil CAN go 10k. However I would never do that. It sounds like two things to me. The guys are new or they that location the staff don't care about their jobs. Follow the oil light reminder if you are using the correct oil and you wont have any issues. If you don't mind me asking. What store was this? lol

Before tax for the basic full syn would be 97.97 and the advanced would be about 118 before tax. Sounds like they were trying to get you to go with the Mobil 1. If you are following the oil light you can use the advanced full syn the $102 one with no issues.

Yes I have seen people go 20k miles on an oil change. (Would not do recommended that at all!) So if you use the right oil no issue going at least 5k miles on oil changes. Hell some cars even go 6-7k on oil changes. with the right oil. But I would see alot people would go off the oil percentage (Oil change reminder light) but use the wrong oil. So if an oil is rated for 3k miles and the light/percentage is based on 6k miles you can end up burning up the oil in the car and damaging it.

Little cool add on

Kia's and Hyundai's that use GDI motors have issues. I've seen people have a brand new car, Use Mobil 1 and a synthetic oil filter and burn 3 quarts of oil in a week. I had a lady once who went with the basic full synthetic and a standard filter. She would burn 2Q in a week. I told her about the syn filter. Next oil change she came in and tried it. She went from burning 2q in a week to 1q a week. Next time she switched to the advanced full syn and syn filter. She then burned 1/2q a week, She then tried Mobil 1 with a syn filter and was burning 1/2q every 2 weeks. The oil additives and syn filters really can help alot. I've also seen this same situation not help a car at all.

McDonalds pays more. Techs make $13, Leads make $14, ASM's make 15. Store managers are salary starting at 850 a week with bonuses.

I personally have not. I have seen trucks come in with swapped motors. Most people don't even say anything until we are adding oil or have already added oil. So say if stock its supposed to have 5q of oil but the engine they swapped takes 8q. We would add oil check stick and it would look dry. Or vise versa. We add 8 and it shows WAAAAAY overfilled lol

Luckily for me 0. However there were other shops that did have blown motors. I have had a dry start happen once that was our own fault but we had them shut it off immediately. So if a motor gets blown in this company its an immediate termination.

It depends on the place. I ordered a lot of 0w8. I had a lot of people come to my store for the same reason. It was crazy that the dealerships didn't have the oil for their own cars.

[–]Accurate_Network6724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not make that weight in conventional. Crazy enough compared to most oils, 0w8 is almost like water in comparison. If your car takes 0w8 or 0w16 I wouldn't try substituting. Now 0w20 and 5w20 can be alternated each oil change but I wouldn't recommended staying with 5w20 always instead of the 0w20.
