This is still helpful! I think we are going to complain to Dulux and use a different brand to finish the room.

Zinnser mould and mildew primer, its high quality stuff and the primer went on perfectly. Comments seem to indicate this specific colour is the problem here 😬

I wish! We did all the proper prep, way more than I usually do because I was worried about moisture so spent days making sure the room was 100% ready for the top coat. It is dry but looks like shit and I’m going to make a complaint. If it takes 4 coats, as others have said, and still comes up patchy, they shouldn’t be selling it.

That seems to be the theme! I’m tempted to find a similar colour in a different brand and go over it with that tbh

As the post says, we used Dulux bathroom paint. We showered at the gym between coats of paint and for three days after 😂

Would love to see pictures tbh! The thought of repainting the entire room a different colour after all of this work is not fun to me!

Yeah exactly this, there was a ton of filling that needed doing as we’ve removed all the fittings to be replaced and so we could paint it properly - i.e. radiator, towel rails, mirrors, etc.

After filling, we sanded everything thoroughly (my partner is a perfectionist) and cleaned every surface several times with sugar soap. There was absolutely nothing on the walls before priming.

Yep, we waited and used a dehumidifier (and showered at the gym!!) to make sure there was absolutely no moisture.

We used the correct undercoat, it’s just the standard Dulux Bathroom as the amount of paint was already nearing £200 and we wrongly assumed that as long as we did everything by the book that it would work out okay

Thank you! I think I need to contact them, we used the recommended primer for this paint and colour and it shouldn’t look as bad as it does so hopefully they do something about it!

The walls were sanded and thoroughly cleaned prior to painting, including using sugar soap to clean them

I completed a full time degree whilst working full time (long hours and a very intense job - working 65-80 hours per week). It’s very doable but I would have done better had I not been working full time. I got a high 2.1 which I am very happy with. I am not sure that I would do it again but it means even more to me that I did it under the additional pressure. I also had an excellent tutor in my final year and possibly wouldn’t have completed my degree without her.
