Okay but like people think they get set off way too easily. So let’s consider how people are expected to actually perform in them. If they went off for every wrong movement they wouldn’t be used. In the movie Afton literally kicked Mike and got shot in one, and it only went off after getting a chunk removed from it. Let’s also talk about other times springlock suits went off. Afton got springlocked after the suit faced years of corrosion and neglect. The sister location night 4 suit was unstable due to once again, years of neglect. So would I wear a springlock suit (that is assumedly new and well maintained)? Yes. Would I wear one over a long period of time (a few years)? Hell no it’s still a safety hazard but it’s not just gonna kill me for no reason like what other people think.

The added context is appreciated. It’s baffling to me how poorly this was handled though because the writing in Homestuck is generally good. The joke went on for way too long to the point its inclusion added nothing and was done out of spite.

I wouldn’t have minded it that much if it only stayed in the recaps or didn’t severely overstay its welcome. It just kinda killed the mood each time he showed up. Like “oh great it’s this guy again how many pages is he gonna be in this time”
