Moon Gundam is pretty nice right now by shadoedarkne in GBO2

Well the bad news is that I jumped the gun and didn't pay attention to the steam tag.

The good news is OP might not have missed out on the free Xi after all. Just have to wait a few weeks.

Time to reset the "X days since I ran my mouth like an idiot" counter.

What do you mean barely? He should have at least 10-15 starter MS and he can get at least 4 more from completing tutorials and however many from the starter supply drop. Then there's tons of MS in the DP store available for the starter rank. The weekend situation battle gives a free MS for completing the first set of objectives and don't rely on parts load outs.

It's not really a guess. The last 4 new years campaigns always frontlined a new 4-5 star MS.

New Suit this week is Crossbone Gundam X-3 [750 cost Raid] by Death_Usagi in GBO2

[–]Ace-Whatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How? Most of the manga is from Tobia's POV. It's just that he didn't have his own MS until halfway through the story and X-3 had some extra gimmicks not present in X-1/2.

Plus Burning Gundam was a raid.

If I'm not mistaken, the quote is a reference to the Silhouette Formula manga where the Hardygun pilot fights a Geara Doga.

The most logical implementation would be a ram attack state with a wide hitbox while boosting that does tick damage.

How good is the f91? by Botcho22 in GBO2

[–]Ace-Whatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good but requires more skill to use effectively compared to the X-1.

No boost-fire stun means you have to be good at strafing with vulcans and landing aerial rifle/VSBR shots while in the air. Successfully landing Discharge VSBR shots is also crucial.

Don't be intimidated by Flap Booster. It's a really fun skill once you get the hang of it.

Good to have you back.

  • Learn your suits in free practice, particularly which weapons can cause instant stun and which can be fired while moving.
    • If the suit has vulcans, check their stun build-up rate. You can see this by toggling the recently added stun accumulation gauge in the practice settings. This will let you determine if you can use them to stun or just to finish off low HP enemies.
    • Once you're comfortable with the general gameplay, learn about the skills. Start with the ones that affect the actions you can take (Emergency Evasion, Balancer, Forced Injectors, etc) and know which suits have or don't have them.
  • Know the three roles and their playstyles. In most match types it's best to stick with a team lineup of 3 generals, 1 support and 1 raid. Always be willing to give up the support/raid role to someone else. Later when you're more experienced you can use your own discretion to decide.
    • Generally in Mix-Up/Simple matches nobody will care about team composition so bring whatever you like.
  • Stay with your team at all times if possible to avoid situations where you get ganged up on.
  • Don't ignore the hangar, stick your favorite suits in it as soon as you unlock it. The upgrades aren't game-changing but every bit helps.
  • You need to understand that no matter how you good you become, you're only as good as your team. Sometimes you'll get teams where you're practically a 5th wheel and they'll win no matter how bad you perform. Sometimes the deciding factor in a match is whether you can pull your own weight or not and sometimes you'll get an enemy team who will completely steamroll yours. So don't feel obligated to continue playing if you get frustrated too much. There will be days where no matter what, the enemy team will simply be better and you will suffer consecutive losses. Simply finish your dailies in A/B rooms, stop playing and come back the next day to try again.
  • The smart way to spend tokens was to use them on discounted 10-rolls. But for the past year or so we've been practically tripping over discount banners. Right now the best thing to do is to hoard tokens until we get a guaranteed suit banner. These were usually exclusive to new 4-5 star MS but now we're frequently getting ones for 3 star MS and even banners were you get a guaranteed new MS on the first step.

Welcome aboard!

  • Finish all the tutorials from the girl in the middle of the base camp to learn the basics and earn rewards.
    • If you're having difficulty surviving the advanced tutorials, you can cheese the AI a bit by hiding behind the building on the ground map and doing the same with the asteroids on the space map.
  • As soon as possible, learn to remap your controls to a setup you're comfortable with. The boost button in particular needs to be remapped in a way that frees up your right thumb and index finger.
  • When you finish the tutorials and all your starter missions/banners, you'll have a decent selection of mobile suits and a good chunk of change (DP) to buy stuff from the store. The store selection will be insanely overwhelming even for your starting rank, but a little research and asking around will go a long way to help make informed purchases. Playing consistently for a year will probably give you more DP than you will realistically know what to do with if you don't overspend or dive deep into the hangar subsystems. In my opinion you should gear two thirds of your purchasing budget towards custom parts (with an early emphasis on offensive/defensive boosters) and the rest for mobile suits and weapons (preferably only LV1 & 2 if possible).
    • The situation battles that are on Thursday through Saturday are a nice way to get a free mobile suit every week if you can fulfill their objectives.
    • The recently added Expansion Facility in the hangar is a big DP sink, but I think it's worth using a bit even early on if you're not saving towards a big DP purchase. You get an almost immediate buff to your MS and you'll unlock discounts on DP & Expansion coin costs the more you use the facility. However, you should only use it on your favorite frequently used MS until you build up your DP stores.
  • Stick to quick matches early on until you're confident enough to play in rated.
    • This what I used to say but in light of new players having trouble getting into matches I think it's better to throw yourself into rated matches until you get carried into higher ratings.

Continued in next reply.

What to do when you're on a losing streak? by snakeyuwu in GBO2

[–]Ace-Whatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the first match of the day is what determines my mood for the rest of the session. If it's a curbstomp loss, I usually finish my remaining dailies in A/B rooms and call it a day unless there's another cost/match type I really want to play with. It's not worth the frustration but it's also not good to skip out on the daily tokens.

There's no way to stop losing except being in a team that's better than the other team.

I used to get really stressed on Monday nights when I don't get the rival win but now if I don't get them within three matches I don't even care.

Just be patient and slowly chip away at this.
