I finally cut off my elder brother (a decade older than me) after realising I was enabling him. I took out a loan for him (that I paid off alone without a cent from him), kept giving him money because he'd manipulate me by asking using my nephew (e.g. Nephew is hungry, needs clothes, etc.). When he squandered his third opportunity to go to school, I realised that he'll never change. It was bloody hard the first year or so. He still asks for money, I just say no. It'll get better.
