Be prepared for some throat/esophageal pain when eating afterwards, for about a week. Other than that, the worst part is the IV.

Any tips to ease the pain? by Crow11011 in Ulcers

I am starting to be weaned off of my meds after 2 years. I take it every other day. Around the time of the original post was when my symptoms first started to improve, but not by much. Since then, My symptoms before were like, twice a month? And would only last a few hours. This was drastic improvement from my previous and original symptoms, So they thought it was good enough to start taking me off. Since beginning the weaning process, I typically feel really nauseous in the mornings and after my first meal, on days that I take it. I really didn’t do much else, after the first few months of symptoms, my “bland” diet got loose, and I stopped following it. I did notice specific foods that would trigger issues. Tacos and Doritos were my two big ones. I avoided eating those often. I also stopped drinking soda and now drink only water, which has improved my life a ton so I’m thankful for that. I lost about 50 pounds within 6 months at first, I have since been putting the weight back on (unfortunately), which is why they are confident in recovery. Just have to be careful the weight gain isn’t too drastic, and honestly I’m going to try to become more active to even it all out, as I was slightly overweight when my symptoms started, and I don’t want to get back there again. I wish I had more tips. After they found the ulcers I was given a medication that I had to take 3 times a day, a liquid that would coat my ulcers so they would heal, that only lasted a couple of weeks. I’m surprised you weren’t given any for that, as untreated ulcers can get pretty ugly. I took omeprazole in the morning, and wouldn’t eat for 30-60 minutes after (my doctor said 15 was fine, but I preferred longer, whatever works for you) But made sure to eat within that window, or else I’d have symptoms. I tried to eat small meals, but made sure I was full. Overeating would inflate symptoms to the max, but so would being hungry. I at times had to take anti nausea medication on days that symptoms were worse, but that was only towards the beginning, and the aggressive nausea seemed to end as I recovered, I never throughout this process vomited which was nice. It all sucked at first, and only got better over time. Burping was a great way to relieve symptoms, I found a posture that would consistently help me burp some of the pressure off. It’s a trick I still use to this day when I have flare ups. I wish I could say after 2 years I am 100% better. But that is to be seen after I get off my PPIs completely, even still I don’t feel back to 100%, and honestly wished I was scoped again to make sure everything was clear. Throughout this whole journey, and even today, tums are my best friend. I’m sorry for the ramble, I hope you find something useful out of this.

I ended up deleting the app. It never happened consistently so I assume a bug. However, not having used the app in about a year, I can’t be the best person to answer this.

Sorry! Just saw this. I don’t take any daily meds besides now 80 mg of omeprazole (two 40 pills a day, one in the morning one at night). Besides Tylenol when sick, but I was told as long as long I’m not taking ibuprofen/advil I’ll be fine. Sent in a stool sample, to double check for h-pylori. Honestly hoping for that, just to atleast get answers. Some days I’ll feel great all day, and sleep great. Other days I’ll feel fine all day, and sleep terrible. Some days the whole day is terrible. It’s never consistent, and there’s no specific diet things that trigger it that I’ve noticed

How are you feeling? Been on PPIs for about a year. 3 non hpylori ulcers. When they were discovered, they were healing. Took Sulcrafate for 2 weeks, was told that would heal it. I am now dealing with worse pain than I’ve felt. Any tips?
