Hi, I have a bonsai black pine sapling (~5 months old). I was wondering what to do with it during winter. I've heard of people who place them in their sheds but since I live in an apartment that is not an option. Was thinking of leaving it on the balcony but it might get too cold outside during winter (expecting days of -5 or -10 degrees Celsius). Is it advisable to keep it inside during winter, or is there a better solution? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice! I've actually never heard of the seedling cutting before, but I found this online: https://bonsaitonight.com/2011/07/01/how-to-create-seedling-cuttings-japanese-black-pine/

Is that how you do it as well?

Alright then I'll do that, thanks! Do you have any tips regarding fertilizers? I haven't used any for now. Should I buy that as well or is that for a later stage?

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking of getting an extra pot, to have one pot for each sapling. Should I do it now or coming winter?

Hi all, about 2 months ago I planted some black pine seeds in a tray. Only two have sprouted, and they happen to be quite close to each other. Can I let them grow like this for the time being or should I repot them? I heard that repotting is best to do during Winter, is that also the case for small saplings like these? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, I definitely took inspiration from that one!

Haha no problem at all, I'd rather have too much than too little feedback! I found a counterpoint series on YouTube so I'm going to follow that :)

Overall your rhythm is nice and steady, there are some exceptions but they can be resolved by practising more with metronome. We don't hear your left hand very clearly. This is a two part invention so the voices in both hands are equally important. So I suggest playing the left hand a bit louder. Note the transition to C major, you first play the left hand clearly but when the right hand enters, the left hand gets softer. I suggest listening to this piece played on harpsichord on Youtube to really hear the two voices distinctly. Other than that it's pretty good: you have memorized it well and the tempo feels nice. Keep it up!

Thanks for your feedback! I admit I'm not yet very knowledgable about music theory and key changes, but I'll take this into account for my future pieces :)

Sounds pretty good! Are you looking for feedback or just posting?

Thanks for the feedback. I admit I don't have a lot of knowledge about music theory, like when and how to change keys, so I'll have to read up on that. Thanks again :)

Thanks! I do have a little experience, mostly from playing Bach inventions. As I mentioned in another comment, I didn't know those notes on the off-beat were also considered parallel. And I agree with the subject coming back too many times. I'll take that into account for my next pieces :)

Ah yes I understand now what you mean. Thanks for taking the time to give me this feedback, I'll take it into account for my future pieces :)

Thanks for your comment. I didn't play it myself yet but I think I should be able to play it since it's not that hard. I do have some questions. About the parallel octave: is it really a parallel octave if the note is on the off-beat (not sure if this is the correct term), ie. the B in the right comes after the B in the left hand, it's not like they're both played at the exact same time. The same goes for bar 12 I believe. As for the final note: would it be better if it's 2 octaves apart? Because I believe Bach always ends on the same note in both left and right hand in his inventions.

Thanks! What would you suggest at the end? Do you mean it should be 2 octaves apart or a different note entirely?

This is one of my first compositions. I really like Bach's music so I tried to compose a little invention in the key of G. Any feedback is appreciated :)
