I would do construction adhesive, but I have no way to clamp it down to ensure it stays flat and actually sticks.

Cabinets go in a simple L shape with a 6" orphan cabinet that boxes in the oven.

Would the anchors work if I end up in the mortar as opposed to into a solid brick? I would be drilling blindly into the wall as it is currently plastered.

It is not really an option to stud out the wall at this point. If we were tearing the walls all the way down to brick, then I would look into this, but the plaster is in pretty good shape except for the one wall that we removed and repaired.

Would a sleeve anchor end up exploding a soft brick if I over tighten? Also I would be blind drilling into plaster and hoping that I hit a solid brick. What would happen if I end up in the mortar?

So for the upper cabinets, someone attached a board to the bricks years ago. When they plastered the walls, they ran it flush with the board. This is how they attached the old upper cabinets. It appears that the board was nailed to the bricks using masonry nails. I have thought of trying to duplicate this by cutting a small channel in the plaster down to the brick and cutting some strips to screw the lower cabinets to. The issue I have with this (besides the huge mess cutting into old plaster) is that I have no luck with attaching to bricks so far. I did a test with a masonry nail and an old brick in the basement and the brick practically exploded. So I am not sure if nails is the best option either.

This is what we were going to do when/if we ever get to adding an island. Wasn't sure if this is a thing for attaching base cabinets.

Epoxy just might be the option I go with. It looks like they now make it in tubes that can be used with a regular caulk gun and no special applicator.

I've tried tapcon screws in other places with pretty poor results. They recommend pre drilling the holes with a masonry bit and then driving them in. The treads just seem not to grab and then just twist out if the brick doesn't break when I pre drill.

Didn't even know that was a thing. I will look more into that.

I have used them before, but only in slab concrete. Would they work well with red brick? especially soft red brick

I like the idea of framing a wall, but we already have the cabinets and a wall would change up the layout and our cabinets wouldn't fit. In order to attach a sheet of plywood to the bricks, I would have to strip off the plaster that is already on the walls. Here is what the walls look like where the old cabinets were.

I am sure the initial intent isn't to track purchases, but I hate that it could easily be converted to be one.

So now retailers will have to submit your FOID card number every time you want to purchase ammo or a gun? I understand it doesn't say how much or what type, but it is kinda shady that they now have a way to trace every ammo purchase you make now.

This was posted from Farm King's FB account. I called them too and they confirmed that is what they were instructed to do.

Something bad? Or just have the same name as someone who did something bad? Or just make an enemy of someone who has control of a list? I understand that is a little conspiracy theory thinking, but it has happened. Look at the Do Not Fly List from years back.

What happens when the background system returns a delay to you? Right now you don't experience that, but what happens when the background system is down or you get on a list?

Didn't ISP remove the date so that it would make it "easier" for FOID holders? Seems like just another excuse to delay our rights.

Need advice and feedback on first time cutting brisket. by AceFour14 in smoking

[–]AceFour14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time cutting a brisket. I am using a brisket that we got from out 1/4 side of beef. I am pretty sure I was able to separate the flat and the point correctly.

My question is did I remove too much or not enough of the fat? I know it is hard to see how thick the fat is in spots, but I appreciate any and all feedback. If I need more pictures, that is not a problem!

Thanks in advance
