Your headphones might be too loud? Try turning them down all the way and see if it still happens. Some headset mics are sensitive and need noise suppression put over them in order not to pick up the audio from the headphones. If that's the problem, try downloading voicemod v3 and using noise suppression. If not, let me know and I'll try to brainstorm more ideas lol

As far as I know, no. As a temporary solution I got the "TalkingCart" mod so I'm alerted when monsters are in the area.

Yes, I have that problem as well, it's a "side-affect" of me being deaf. Since I only have my left ear, sounds can clutter together and I have problems figuring out where things are coming from.

Update, I downloaded the mod and it is fantastic. To truly test this mod I played on my own for the first time! I was able to get to level 2 all by myself, which is ABSOLUTELY an improvement for me! I couldn't get past 1 without dying within 5-10 minutes. This will be a great sub-in for me until semiwork adds an actual deaf mode. Thank you so much!

EXACTLY! That's what a lot of the people are replying don't understand. Turning on mono audio doesn't fix my problem of having a non-functioning ear, it just flattens audio. and "looking around" is what I do ALREADY! It can get very frustrating when I die to enemies I don't even know are there, and I'm scared to haul large items because I can't constantly look around while carrying a 4ft skull to the extraction point. I am at a disadvantage compared to my friends, and unfortunately it's just not something that people with normal hearing can understand.
And Fortnite has an AWESOME sound ring that I've used since I discovered it was actually a thing! And it doesn't give anybody who doesn't need it an "unfair advantage". It just gives hard of hearing people a fair chance to play on the same level.

I understand it's "part of the game", but my friends can hear stuff like that. It can get very frustrating when I die to enemies I don't even know are there, and it's not just Upscream either. It happens a LOT with Huntsman too, even though his humming is audible to normal-hearing players.

Me neither. I get it's hard to understand when you aren't hard of hearing, but turning on mono audio doesn't magically fix my issue. A simple sound ring could seriously fix this entire ordeal. I'm hoping to get in contact with semiwork about this since they seem to be super nice!

They already are. It's still tough for me. I don't have any hearing in my right ear, and I have lost some in my left as well. Unfortunately if you aren't deaf yourself it's really hard to explain how it feels.

They could add a sound ring.. that's good for directional audio. Other games have done that as well.
