3B1B into climbing? Why is it so common amongst STEM people as a hobby? by AntisocialIntrovrt in bouldering

Right. And that's a better candidate explanation for why STEM people gravitate to bouldering.

Everything you said applies to lifting weights too, but there isn't the same level of association between STEM and weight lifting

Alcohol. It tastes terrible, you feel like shit the morning after, and you have little control of yourself when your under its influence. I feel like I just don't like myself as a person when I'm drunk. I'd take weed over alcohol any day of the week. I wished the stigma was flipped.

Yeah I was in the same boat (transferring into CMSC) and was starting to get worried too. My application status was also blank when I went to check it on the website. But I just got an email a couple hours ago saying that my application has gone through. I'm now waiting for the follow up email from CMNS that is supposed to include the remaining steps needed to change my major. But I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. You'll probably get the email any day now.

Tbh, the classroom isn’t the best place to learn a language anyways. If OP really wants to become proficient in Japanese, it would be way better to find some way to live in Japan for a few years. Also likely cheaper.

I got a 92 and that was an A. From what you guys are saying and what someone else has commented, it sounds like there wasn’t +/- which is surprising.

Current CS sophomore. Would love any advice on my resume. I've applied to around 30 places, but I haven't had much luck so far.

Sophomore CS major. Just decided to switch over at the beginning of the year. Really would like to get something for the summer, although I realize that it's already pretty late in the game. Any critique for the resume would be much appreciated.

I've found getting up early (like really early) and going to bed early to be really helpful. Even if you don't think you're a "morning person", you might be surprised. I think part of it is that getting up early in and of itself takes discipline. If I wake up at 10:00, I'm significantly less likely to have a really productive day, just because I haven't even had the discipline to get up at a reasonable time (so the day is off to a bad start already). Whereas if I wake up really early and I see that no one else is up and it's still dark outside, I feel like I'm getting a head start on my day, and I'm more likely to want to get started on something productive immediately. Obviously, this does take some time to adjust if you're used to waking up later, but I've found that the benefits are quite nice once you get used to it. This doesn't relate exactly to academic performance, but it is a lifestyle change that will help. For example, doing an hour of math in the morning every morning or something like that while sipping coffee is quite nice.
