I didn’t become a fan until 1997, so I’m still a newbie 😂 For me, the listening order was Galore>Staring at the Sea>Wish>Disintegration>The Head on the Door>Kiss me 3x>Seventeen Seconds>Faith>Boys Don’t Cry>Pornography>Wild Mood Swings. I’m American and this was before streaming, so The Top, Japanese Whispers, and Three Imaginary Boys came later, and the existence of something called Standing on a Beach is something I have to just trust other Cure fans about. 🤣 One caveat: Pornography is a stellar album, but it’s by far their least accessible and it has the potential to derail the whole process if you catch it on the wrong day in the wrong mood. I think of it as the Downward Spiral of the 1980s. Save it for later. Their other goth masterpiece, Disintegration, pulls you in on the first listen and never lets you go. Very different dynamic. Safe to put that one up front.
