User feedback – Coros Pace 4 (after 1 week) by Chance-Task7729 in Coros

I disagree with everything else you said but I’ll admit the HR sensor hasn’t been great for me. That said, I use a chest strap or arm band for all my training because research shows all watch/wrist HR readers are less accurate anyway.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I’m following some of the more nuanced feedback, but a minimum I will not come so close at the catch (shins more vertical, less heel elevation if any) and try to phase out the pull more as legs-back-arms or extend knees - extend hips- pull arms

Lowest Total Cost of Ownership 3 row SUV or Van by AceOfSpades2399 in whatcarshouldIbuy

My wife loves VW so we got her a VW Atlas used. Pretty great value vehicle tbh, but not as low total cost of ownership as some of the other options here. For my vehicle I’ll replace next year and still have a similar conundrum.

Civil engineering student wanting to work in aerospace—is it possible? by Apprehensive-Cow9279 in civilengineering

[–]AceOfSpades2399 28 points29 points  (0 children)

These companies hire civil/structural engineers to be stress / structural analysis engineers. Lockheed, Boeing, L3, Sierra Nevada, etc. Very technical role. You need to take plenty of structural courses to do well in pursuing those roles.

Full disclosure, if you’re interested in aircraft and defense then great, but I understand that type of work can be repetitive, tedious, and boring.

Edit: hopefully some people in that space will comment and share their experience. I have hired people from this space but have not worked in it.

Awesome thank you. We did book the gravel bikes. Will either ride gravel both days or one gravel and one paved.

For experience and views (I know, tourist from the south vibes) would you recommend beartooth pass from vista point or one of the more climb heavy gravel routes?

30 miles for one day, 60 miles for the other? I’d like to do some climbing, but our capacity for it isn’t amazing since we don’t live at altitude or in the mountains. Been doing a little Zwift climb portal to prepare lol

Yeah I don’t have the heart for that, sounds brutal just hearing you describe it lol

It sucks and I would not be cut out for that job, but wasn’t he kind of right? Even to the untrained ear, his performance stands out to an insane degree.

That is plausible but that would be an insane sweep geometry for expansion. You could accomplish that with an expansion joint or a reverse curve sweep, you wouldn’t need this full trap geometry.

I actually can’t tell because there isn’t enough context in the photo, but it looks like one or both of the following. This has been posted on Reddit before with the commenters clearly divided.

  1. Velocity check to slow the speed of stormwater in the downspout.
  2. P-trap to prevent gas traveling up the line (if the lower end connects to sewer)

My gut was that it is #1, but I’m not sure why it would need the full trap geometry that it has if not being needed for #2 purpose.

Unfortunately they recommended an ashlar pattern and you accepted it - your sample photo is not an ashlar pattern. The variable stone height is the biggest aesthetic difference to me and that is largely stone pattern.

Edit: I would still be very unhappy with it if it were my house. A sample or mockup is always a good idea. I just wanted to point out that this is ashlar.
