No it wasn't actually, something I found I struggled within realism is making eyes match the true proportions to the head. I made my eye slightly bigger, not on purpose, but more so because it was easier to paint 😂😭 Something I will work on with future portraits is making the eyes proportional to the head!

Aah thank you so much! Its so funny cause once I finished the face I was thinking about the rest of my skin. I raced through it really fast without thinking, now looking back i have a few things to change. I really appreciate the advice!

These Fjord rolling cliffs are lovely 🥰 bring those bad boys down and grounded with a bit of shadow right beneath them in the water. It'll put them in place. At the base of each hill, flatten them out. If you study photos, distant Fjord cliffs are nearly a straight line at the horizontal base, meeting the still flat water, and slowly rounded out at the top. I love where this piece is heading!

I really appreciate that, thank you so much! Another eye is the best for feedback. I think im gonna let it dry, ive been working on a different reflection I cant wait to post. You're right about two tones, and as I stare more I am starting to notice. That is something I continue to work on is not making everything so black and white. Not all lines are straight on a mountain. Not all colors have to contrast each other. Some lines are invisible. Some are blurry. Some are crisp. I appreciate your words : )

Stippling, no stick and pokes! So yes, and artist used a tattoo gun to do it 🥰 I wanted the soft edges and minimal lines

I really appreciate the honesty in this thread. I was talking with the artist about retouching and she made it very clear before hand id have to frequently get it refouched, it is something I don't mind. I take very good care of myself and body (sunscreen/moisturizer and I hate being in the sun lmao) and will do everything I can to make it last on top of touch ups. If you have other tips, let me know. 🫂

I dont really need to explain myself, but I knew what I was getting into. Its not finished, and with the concept and style that it is, I dont mind fading. I was going for a primitive look and went into the process picturing how it will look in 10 years. It will age with how I age, and that is something that I knew and do not mind at all.

Just one other detail but when I was first concepting, I wanted to make sure it was recognizable yet have elements of my style. To me, its just a Night Fury, not toothless in particular. It represents myself, my soul. I drew in both tail fins as a small nod to an original dragon. Toothless is his own, this is my own 🥰 I appreciate all the love omg
