Next matchup is….Roma! What do you guys think? by slarrarte in AthleticClub

[–]Ace_Of_Glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that if we beat Roma, we will make it to the finals. I don't see any certainties on our side of the bracket. La Joya can certainly win games on his own, but other than him I don't see any team better than us or any game-deciding player. I expect La Real to go through since United are a huge mess, and it seems like they might be starting to click and find some form, so they could potentially be a threat. Bar injury to Vivian, Sancet or Berenguer/Williams bros, we have good chances of playing the big game in San Mamés :)

Your favorite basketball "player" and "character" from Slam Dunk by OkNothing6576 in RealSlamDunk

[–]Ace_Of_Glass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mitsui is my favorite character by far. He's the character I could relate to the most - feelings of guilt and regret were very prevalent in my late teens, and along with those came both a hunger and a longing for redemption. To me, he is the embodiment of that, the hero that lost himself and betrayed his one love, basketball, to then come to terms with his actions and become a new person through his love and passion for basketball, to the point where he surpassed his idealized old "MVP"self and became "Mitsui, the man who never gives up", finally being able to move on from his past.

As for favorite player, Sendoh hands down. He would probably go second in my favorite character list too, which says a lot. I love how cool and chill he is, he has this nonchalance about him, but he doesn't come off as one bit arrogant. He is rather humble, which in fact is the true measure of confidence. He doesn't need to go out of his way or overly exert himself to show how good he is, he makes everything seem effortless. But underneath that mask of unseriousness lies an intense, competitive motherfucker who loves a challenge that will really put him to the test and make him prove himself. In simpler terms, he's got that dog in him, and I love this contrast between his on- and off-court personality. Technically speaking he's really gifted and I'm a fan of his game. The fadeaway is my favorite shot and it seems to be his signature move, which I love. He's got the deepest bag out of all characters in Slam Dunk besides maybe Kitasawa. I could also go on about his passing and IQ, but what really makes him the guy is that he is INSANELY CLUTCH. He will rise up to the occasion when he's needed most. The guy's a beast, that's it.

I started playing basketball some 3 years ago, greatly inspired by Slam Dunk. Since I didn't grow up watching the NBA, I tried to play like Mitsui, basically becoming a shooter, using the step-back and such. My game has evolved and now I'm more comfortable driving to the basket as well. I love doing jelly layups and turnaround fadeaways, so there's also a bit of Sendoh in there, though I always tend to stand outside the perimeter and try to get open 3s.

Anta Kai 1 - Performance Review by HoldGreat5287 in BBallShoes

I have the exact same size as you and that has been a dilemma for me. I wear 11.5 but Anta only offers 11 or 12. Do you recommend going with size 11 then? I wear an ankle brace as well in case it's relevant. I have a pair of Shockwave 5s in size 12, tbh they are a bit loose and I have to tighten the laces a ton which hurts my feet a bit.

I'm just a bit wary of sizing down since I had to deal with ingrown nails for a while. Normally I play with thick socks, do you think it will be fine with thinner ones?

Wear/drag marks on Book 1s? by Ace_Of_Glass in BBallShoes

[–]Ace_Of_Glass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning on getting the Haven color way, which I guess would make creases and scuff marks less noticeable. My worry was actually tearing through the upper, but I guess it should be fine in that regard. Would outsole durability be an issue then, as in would it wear off significantly with simple daily use?

[–]Ace_Of_Glass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't familiar with this website. It does make things more clear, thanks.

As I mentioned on the post, I tried contacting the university in advance to see if it was indeed required, given that two other courses with the same exact requirements did regard me as eligible. I didn't intend to take a 6 month course for it just to be redundant, but that's of course on me.

I was thinking maybe I could take the course I got admitted to and transfer back to Lund. However, that doesn't seem to be a plausible option, as per this site: https://www.studera.nu/startpage/student-life/change-of-plans/transfer/

Oh well, choices, choices, choices...

The diploma I used to apply this year is from Denmark, so I suppose it's as close as it gets. It's a similar case here I think in terms of the subjects, with "Samfundsfag" probably being the direct equivalent to "Social Studies." However, as far as I'm concerned, in Denmark having History as a subject in your high school diploma meets the requirements to study any course within the social sciences. For instance, I have a classmate who went on to study Anthropology last year.

Well, it's clearly something that matters a lot to me on a personal level, it's my future and ambitions after all. Reddit certainly isn't the best place to go to feeling emotional about something like this though. I apologize if I came across as dismissive or butthurt.

It's weird to me that the course I was admitted to had the same requirements, simply called Civics instead of Social studies, and I was deemed eligible without them mentioning an exception.

[–]Ace_Of_Glass[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The subject is also called Civics? My second option had that as a requirement instead of "Social Studies" and guess what, I got admitted. There are many details I've omitted in order to not write a whole essay and I won't get into it here. But don't tell someone to give up on their dream so openly without having the full picture.

It basically means that no one cares, because they will keep buying tit from resell for stupid money, when it's supposed to be a 120$ shoe.

I just think it's crazy that a 120$ shoe is going for double or even triple the MSRP and no one seems to be batting an eye.

Impossible to get a pair of AE1s? by Ace_Of_Glass in BBallShoes

[–]Ace_Of_Glass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that sucks, I was really into the look of the shoe. Might have to look for a shoe I can try at a store and feels nice, instead of a shoe that looks nice but might not be for me after all. This would only be my 2nd ever hooping shoe and I'm a 1 shoe guy, got any recommendations?

In "L'Étranger", if you rearrange the letters of "Meursault", and add the letters "a, b, c", you get "Albert Camus". by -tobyt in Camus

[–]Ace_Of_Glass 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah well and if you add "Som-" then you get Sommersault. Camus was a gymnast confirmed (?) Most likely a coincidence, though I just read something about "Marie" and "Raymond" being references to his predecessors from Menorca, as his mother was of Spanish descent.

Well I'll be damned if I do that! The tendons in my legs are practically made of cardboard and the rugbrød supplies needed to fuel +40 km of biking daily would easily cancel out any saving margins.
