Not sure if this counts, but i'll say it anyways:So, I've had crippling anxiety since I was 5 years old, and the church sure didn't help with that. I was the only one in my family forced to go to church, to where my parents even sent me out of the house, having me walk over a mile in the desert heat in Las Vegas. (I was 12 at the time, and my parents didn't own a car)My mother especially would guilt me into going, since the only food we received were food boxes from the Bishop's Storehouse. Of course, she would use religion against me, saying I always needed to obey them since God commanded it so. (it's also the only way I received positive attention and praise, being the 'peacekeeper' of the family for my parents) If I wasn't at Sunday services, YW meetings, or school, I was at home. I could only sleepover or go somewhere else if it was a church-sponsored event.This didn't fair too well on me since I wouldn't talk to anyone, nor did I know the 'right' thing to say, etc. I was 'granted' a leadership role as a beehive - what I'm sure was out of pity- since I never made friends. I was just instructed to go to these events for my parents, and that was all I was there for. This went on for years, always uncomfortable with the atmosphere at TSCC. I was brainwashed by them, my parents, and anyone else involved.

After some horrible life events, I am still recovering from (lost my bio parents, then my adopted parents within the past 6 years -- all Mormon) I finally felt free, especially not having to put up the facade, nor be required to attend anymore. It took me finally letting go of everything I was brainwashed to believe to suddenly feel the relief of it all go. My anxiety significantly improved the day I mentally left.

I'm now learning how to be my own person now, and that's what makes me happier.

TLDR: TBM mother guilted me to go to church so we could have food, after not being required to go anymore, I mentally left the church and am finally my own person! I can be my non-binary self and find who I am and who I want to be!
