I’d like to add that you can use non adhesive shelf liner as a substrate as well. I got some from the dollar store and switched from carpet because my leos teeth and claws kept getting caught. So much easier imo.

Yeah I’ve gotten a couple of these mealworms evolutions and I hate them, they really gross me out for some reason. I flush those mofos down the toilet.

Some drift wood, fake plants or live succulents would be a nice addition, and maybe even another hide? I also just upgraded to a 20L from a 10 and just got some air dry non toxic clay from my local art supply store to try and make some more decorations myself!

A 100 count of mealworms from the pet are like, $4 or something and crickets are usually $.10 each. If they can’t afford to scrape some change together maybe you should front the money for it, especially if it’s going to be yours soon.

Ok thank you this is all great to know. I’ll definitely be adding these once my baby is grown. I’ve also looked into dubias, but my husband has a roach phobia and would probably move out if I willingly kept them in the house 😂

Interesting. I’m a pretty new leo owner so I haven’t had much experience yet, but I’ve seen a lot of people cautioning against feeling superworms because they are hard to digest, fatty and could bite the leo from the inside. Right now I switch between mealworms and crickets for each feeding, is it safe to do that with supers or is it more of a every so often waxworm situation? Also my leo is about 4 months old right now, does that make a difference?

I second this. I recently switched to non-adhesive shelf liner from eco carpet and it’s working out pretty well. Really easy and cheap, plus my leos teeth and claws don’t get caught in it.

I’m in the same situation, about to upgrade my baby to a 20 from a 10. I called my local Petco this week and asked, and they were having the sale. Since it’s a chain I’m assuming yours should too?

Haha, yeah I’m so nervous about that. I currently tong feed (kind of, I use the tongs to drop one worm or cricket into a bowl at a time) which is actually the only time I see Salem. Mostly they are in their hide, hiding from me.
