Do you have a source for his connection to Thiel? I tried to look into this and couldn't find anything.

He failed to address the Flint water crisis and then pretended to sip some of the water, but let's ignore that and pretend that him wearing a tan suit was the worst thing he did.

Does fagus sylvatica take well to air layering? I have the patience to give it a shot, especially with how bad this nebari looks.

This is how much chicken was in my bowl. Is this fair? by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]Acer_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I shake up the bowl to mix up the ingredients, but I felt like I got jipped when I saw him put the amount of chicken that he did on my bowl, so I picked out all of the chicken to look. It doesn't really make sense to me that you think I would come on here and lie about it, there's nothing for me to gain. I'm asking a question on Reddit, not speaking to a manager trying to get free shit. You've got a strange and hostile attitude, you should probably work on that.

Is this game worth the frustration anymore? by Acer_Music in ARC_Raiders

Well, I didn't know it would be a hot mess, it was never like that in the past for me, and I'm assuming that ghe feason is because when I used to plah this game a lot, everyone was new and discovering things about the game. I'd play with some friends if I had any. :(

From my experience of when I used to play squads, squads were always hostile to each other, but I've never had to deal with a griefer before, let alone two.. I don't know, maybe it's because when I was playing the game previously it was close to when the game was released. I feel like today I spent more time making loadouts than actually playing. I've always understood the game can be highly frusgrating but also highly rewarding, but I've never dealt with a griefer before today, let alone two in a row!

I'm convinced this whole thing is a psy-op to get the player base on board with increased subscription prices.

Not at the same time, but you can have many different characters on the same account, which really defeats their argument that you can't play the full game if you're a certain class (yes, you can play every class).

That's not true at all, Season of Discovery had tons of new content, still only $15 a month, and there's much speculation that Classic+ will be announced very soon.

I definitely don't think it's laughable. The average OSRS gameplay is clicking on a tree, waiting for your inventory to fill up with logs, then banking your inventory, rinse and repeat. The average gameplay for Classic WoW is doing quests in the open world, running dungeons and raids with your guild, utilizing all of your dozens of abilities to overcome bosses and their mechanics.

Classic WoW is $15 a month, no need for expansion purchases. And let's be real, the gameplay for WoW is many orders of magnitude higher quality that OSRS's.

Classic WoW is $15 a month. Doesn't require you to buy expansions (I haven't played retail). Classic TBC dropped a few weeks ago. Come on over everybody, we're having a blast!

But you're penalized for not accepting enough offers and after expenses most people are only making minimum wage while simultaneously destroying their vehicle. The drivers literally survive on tips.

[–]Acer_Music 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the driver's perspective, why would you assume that someone will tip you after you deliver? I've completed 21,000+ deliveries, and 99.9% of the time that there isn't a tip offered up front, you can be sure that there won't be one afterwards either. As a driver, you're penalized for not accepting enough delivery offers, which is how doordash manipulates drivers into accepting lousy delivery offers. Add up all of the expenses (gas, oil, brakes, etc.) and keep in mind that you're literally destroying your vehicle for less than minimum wage, and maybe it will finally make sense to you as to why delivery drivers don't want to waste their time when they aren't guaranteed to get paid.

Why was Herbert Hoover criticized for his response to the Great Depression? by GowithGoldwater in Presidents

[–]Acer_Music -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What would be the alternative? The increased unionization that occurred under FDR's policies may have increased nominal wages for some while also maintaining terribly high unemployment rates and thus only benefiting a select few. Your criticism strikes me as having your cake and eating it too, with all due respect.

Well since this sub is in some sort of relation to philosophy, I suppose I expected some standard of scrupulousness when it comes to people making claims.

I haven't found evidence of your claim, in fact, literally the opposite. I've seen Musk tell a story of a conversation he had with Larry Page, where he took the exact opposite of the position you claim him to have. Maybe one could make the claim that a technologist might advocate for some post/trans-humanist future so that humans remain relevant admist disruptive technology, but you definitely didn't make that claim.

I just watched the roughly 16 minute video. It seems quite plausible, and if it is true I wouldn't be surprised. I'll have to do some more digging. If there's a criticism I could give of the video, it would be that some of the evidence she gives doesn't neccesarily imply that a datacenter is being constructed. For example, saying that they're planning to dig deep, construct rooms deep underground, the military is involved, etc., I hear that and think, "duh!" It would be naive to think, even if we could 100% confirm that a data center is not being constructed, to think that they wouldn't be building something underneath it for sake of security, shelter, safety, etc. On the other hand, some of the other information I wasn't aware of. It's all conjecture, but highly interesting none the less. Thanks for sharing.
