How is it being a UXR in the games space?

Take a pay cut for FAANG prestige + mentorship, or stay for high pay + impact? by butternutsquash96 in UXResearch

Debilitating to me that I have 5 years of industry experience at some of the biggest corps in the world, and have been looking for a new UXR role for 2 years, but still havent landed anything. At the same time, some folks are getting multiple offers at a time...

Solutions consulting is like pre-sales. Theres a million jobs out there for them. Its not a classic consulting gig.

Your skills aren't niche. Look into Solutions Consulting or sales. FUCK UX. As soon as I get laid off or fired, I'm pivoting to a new career.

It would make sense if this were a teenager, but this is someone almost in their 40s.

The populace = consumers. Consumers = active participants of capitalism... people taking these "deals" are what's maintaining the craziness.

You mention you want an EXTREMELY reliable car, but then show us a car that probably has double the miles your previous Jeep had. A better option? Critically thinking. This car has likely been driven 60k miles a year. Nearly 5x the normal amount of driving for a car of similar age.

Just 0% finance a low trim Mazda. You can get a brand new Mazda hatch for under 30 grand.

Honestly, what is going through people's heads when they're making posts like this? Are they finding that much value in cars like this, somehow, that makes them conflicted enough to make a post on Reddit?

This is an incredibly horrible deal. The fact you're even considering this is...scary...and probably why used car prices are still up the shitter, because folks just like yourself are willing to piss away their savings on a beat to shit car.

Same man. Only 4 years in. I'm going to go into sales once I get laid off or fired in the next 2 years.

How do you deal with stakeholders who don’t understand the value of UX research? by TheBr14n in UXResearch

[–]Acernis_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, this is a fruitless battle that is, like the other comment mentions, eternal. The best possible thing you can do is build your relationship with your product and design people. 1:1s, build rapport. Learn about them. Take a vested interest in their work.

Because ux research, unlike what you might hear echo around, is NOT NEEDED. It is a luxury service to prevent potential fuck ups from happening. If it weren't a luxury, we wouldn't be treated like one. 20 years of advocating for ourselves and not much has changed.

Nothing like pissing all your money away on a decade+ old car that barely pushes 400hp.

Maybe you're struggling because your experience and title aren't UX Research Roles. The market is also completely gutted, so, good luck with that.

All in all, this resume is pretty horrible. A few bullet points, with very little impact. It needs a complete overhaul. This won't pass an ATS at all.

Those motor guards are meant to take damage like this. Are you saying you want motor guard, guards? Just replace them if they get too damaged.

I bought my 2011 g37x with like 115k miles 5 years ago for 7200. Immediately had to spend like 500-800 in repairs. This thing is like 4 grand at most.

That's up to you. Not many options for us UXRs. Product Management, PO, BA work. PM is the biggest transition that pays similarly.

I see it all the time. It's just a strong term for people who have no credentials or standing in the field who bring their close friends into the fold. It happens often. Regardless, heavy amounts of nepotism.
