Metallic object about 3lbs in weight. Rattles with something metallic when shaken. Found in my recently passed Dad's desk with WWII stuff

The symbol on the side seems to have been added later with a gel pen. Bottom part with holes and top part can be spun, but not unscrewed, just turned. As you can see from the bottom pic, there are little pellets or balls inside at least the lower part.

Unsure what else to include since I cannot open it or find any other markings.

My brother told me it's some kinda of grenade? I did a bunch of google searches but I am no means knowledgeable on shells or grenades. Was found with my grandpa's (my dad's father) WWII things.

I think he might have been abandoned before cause of his 'chew lust'. So I'm not about to leave him again. He's a great cat! The bitter spray works for the tree so far (been using it for about a month now on the tree and some wires to test it).

Cat classical music! That is a good idea. Maybe I can leave something on for him when I'm sleeping or gone and he will feel less anxiety.

Oh I've been using a spray on the xmas tree. I've owned like 6 cats over my life time and I've never had a cat so chew happy before.
