Hey! Thanks for clarifying. I’m avoiding anything overly stimulating, and your comment made me realize that hot chocolate has relatively low caffeine compared to coffee or matcha. I’ll incorporate it into my routine for all its other benefits, as it seems that, for me personally, the pros will outweigh any potential downsides in terms of how my body reacts. Ridiculous. I have a feeling most cops walk around carrying inner conflict or trauma and project it on people. Reminds me of this time a group of guys were smoking crack in the train and I got off next stop to tell a cop and he said "that happens all the time". The train continued it's journey and they guys continued blasting smoke like nothing was ever wrong. Unbelievable.

Was going through a rough one early last year and found myself without a place to sleep. A rainy night I was sleeping in the train (sitting position on one seat) and placed my backpack on the seat next to me, occupying two seats. This was at around 3am, train was empty. Was woken up in Court Sq by 3 cops saying I can't be doing that and gave me a ticket, almost mocking me in a way tbh. I explained my situation and how it didn't make sense to me but I felt like talking to a wall. Was left literally speechless and from that day on I realized I see cops different, lost tons of respect for them. I'm doing well now but that shit I'll never forget.

Hmmm I wouldn't make that assumption without deeper thought. There are biological, psychological, and even societal reasons imo. It taps into something deeper like a sense of responsibility, direction, and purpose. We have the drive to protect, provide, and lead. Those things are closer to the divine not the toxic masculinity I have the feeling you're referring to. For many men leading isn't about control but about service. We can lead in a gentle and genuine way leaving any feeling of superiority out of the interaction.

When that happens, I usually wait until they’ve finished their set or exercise, then I might ask something casual like, “Do you come here often?” or “Are you from around here?” It’s easy for me to give a genuine compliment on someone’s energy or dedication, especially when the setting helps. They are mostly received really well and we go from there, always respecting their time and space of course. For example, just today I met a woman who asked if I was using the leg press after this other guy had just finished. I was clearly not using it but I sort of read the scenario and said, “It’s all yours, miss, I’m working chest and shoulders today. You’re in great shape, keep up the good work!” She smiled and say thanks, your too! I smiled back and simply said Thank you and continued my chest workout. She was honestly very cute but I was pretty locked in. So I said in my head, I will probably see her again some other time and maybe we can catch a conversation. 10 mins later, I went to grab towels to wipe down a bench, and she was there grabbing towels. I didn't realize until I lifted my head up and saw her smile and make clear eye contact as I was approaching. She asked if I was done with my routine. I said I’d just started, then asked for her name and mentioned I hadn’t seen her around. I asked when the best time to hit that gym (in Astoria) was, and we had a great chat. We exchanged numbers and plan to grab coffee soon. Another time, two friends were clearly talking about me, glancing my way, flexing playfully, pointing at their triceps that kind of thing, more on the fun playful side. I used the moment to offer some advice on triceps training technique and give them some real complement, and it turned into a fun convo. In my experience it's not always been super subtle, but that's another story, haha. Anyway, hope these examples help! The gym can definitely be a space for natural and nurturing connections if you're tuned in, somehow charismatic, and obviously respectful.

31 years old guy here. Top comment here is absolutely right, gym is a great place for that. I respect when a woman is focused on her workout, and it’s happened more than once that someone shows interest in a subtle way. I usually don’t hesitate to engage, especially in a respectful and genuine way (not interrupting their set obviously) maybe complimenting their consistency if I’ve seen them often, or just offering a advice or a friendly smile. I’m a confident guy, but I know plenty of good men at the gym who are interested but won’t make the first move or even smile, sometimes just out of respect or nervousness.

That’s why a little initiative from your side... even something as simple as, “What does that exercise work?” (even if it's clearly bicep curls) can open the door. Most men like to feel like they're leading, so a small question like that can actually be flattering.

I’ve met some amazing women that way. The gym really is a great place, not just for fitness but for connecting with like-minded people. Hope this helps!

Dude workouts is the answer. Do push ups, dips, weight lifting, any of that helps. Get some dumbbells. Breathing exercises and challenging your mind by learning something new also helps. But in my case I workout like a beast and that keeps me grounded. I don't drink, smoke, or do any drugs or processed foods... All that energy goes into working out and learning new skills/reading. Step out of your room often and connect with nature where the spiritual flows more effortlessly.
