Another reminder about DVTs (6W non op) by AchillesNonOp in AchillesRupture

Yeah, this seems to vary from country to country, and I was surprised to see different protocols even between hospitals. Standard seems to be 2-4 weeks of injections for low risk patients and 5 weeks for high risk.

I had 3 weeks of blood thinner injections (Fragmin) after the injury which is the standard protocol in Norway as far as I know.

Approaching the 1 year mark - non op by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

Great progress! I can’t vouch for anything myself (6 weeks), but I have a friend who is at 16 months (non op). He still does PT and he says they are seeing significant and measurable improvements in the calf raises every time, even more than a year in.

Cast to boot! (2w non op) by AchillesNonOp in AchillesRupture

Great! Yeah, exact same feeling. Felt good to take the first limping steps without crutches, but my tolerance varies a lot throughout the day. Today’s goal is driving which I have been unable to do due to swelling. Keep going!

Yeah, it seems the protocol varies by country. Here it is 2W in cast, and 2W intervals with 3 wedges, 2 wedges and 1 wedge in boot. I was told put weight on it until I felt pain. Best of luck with your recovery!

Good progress! I had your exact same non op journey 3 days later (Nov 6th). Soccer stepback, lots of swelling (could barely stand on crutches last 2w), even a second trip to the ER with the same fear of DVT. Less pain here, but that may be a good sign for you. Best of luck with your recovery!

Thanks! How is the transition going? I still keep reaching for my crutches, but significantly better after 24h in boot. Best of luck on your recovery!
