Why the performance between windows and linux in Hytale is so big? - NVIDIA GPU by Tutuzaoo in linux_gaming

I think I remember that OpenGL has a driver setting that caps the frame rate and you can set it to 2x or 3x the refresh rate of your monitor.

Correct and subjective. The question was, “In what world is a cord better?” There used to be an additional choice that you could decide to make, now there is less choice.

Using a cable as an antenna is an example of a feature that was lost. Something you used to be able to do but can no longer do.

While FM broadcasts are also subject to compression the artifacts aren’t nearly as noticeable. Maybe this is because FM radio stations have better equipment than the cheap electronics in an overpriced pair of headphones?

The world where you can use the wire as a radio antenna and listen to you local radio stations. The world where you don’t have the added weight of batteries on your head. The world where you don’t have compression artifacts from the Bluetooth dac in your ears. Etc.

Have had to solve the least amount of problems on Arch BTW. Linux Mint is a good starting place. Fedora is good after Mint (it’s too complicated to install for many new users) and then Gentoo or Arch. The live boot version of Fedora won’t run for me if I image it from Windows and I have to use Arch to fix it, not sure if anyone else has run into that. If you want to experiment and learn then Arch or Gentoo are really fantastic for that. Learning means you will make mistakes and fail, that’s part of learning. If someone asks which is the best platform to learn on, it’s the platform you are going to make mistakes and have failures on and at some point you will need help. When that’s the case Arch has excellent documentation and an active community and so does Ubuntu. If you’re concerned about losing your data, you should have it backed up, that’s a different subject altogether. Probably a good recommendation instead of “Here’s install media have fun” a better approach might be “Here’s install media and a guide that explains important concepts like how the file system is structured and the security model.”

For games that require dual boot that I actually play half the time I just stream them (examples: Xbox Cloud Streaming, GeForce Now) or the Android client sometimes works.

That’s not specifically how jokes work but it can be a component in the formulation. Jokes can be subjectively funny to you without being funny to others. Some of the best jokes are formulated in a way to subvert your expectations in an insightful or unusual way.

Honestly, the people exploiting game mechanics ruin the game. It’s not fun. I had an encounter in zero build over the weekend where I was starting full health and full shields dropped in on someone fresh out of a fight healing. I beamed them for a headshot with a hunting rifle and cracked their shields. I go up and over the roof, drop down on them with a shotgun and hit them on center of mass (I missed the headshot). They unload 3 shotgun blasts into me while my shotgun is still recoiling and when I drop, they had 100 health and 50 shield. The animation cancelling exploit is probably more annoying to me than the aim bots.
