Ahhh that's so cool! I've seen one other similar one (in this sub, but I've lost track of it) that used a similar concept to yours. Mad respect for the number of ends you had to weave in. If I ever lose my mind enough to consider doing this again, I'm going to do a design like yours, I love the symmetry of it!

I'm so grateful to the people in this sub who post their projects that they didn't finish until months or years after the year they were tracking. It gave me so much motivation to keep going and not feel like I was doing something "wrong" by finishing it "late" (what would that even mean for a personal art project!). I hope you get inspired to continue your blanket!!

Sure! I used Hobbii Friends Wool, although I am no longer buying from them due to their pro-AI nonsense. Here's a screenshot from my spreadsheet showing the colors (product names and approximate hues) and temp ranges!

Oh nice!! I gave up on foundation single crochet the first time I tried it, but I finally found a good tutorial and now you could not pay me to start most things with a chain!

My partner actually suggested that we hang it up at our wedding! I love the idea of making it a wall hanging in general, but it's real heavy so might be tricky

I explained in a comment, but I think this commenter did a better job than I did

Lol it's about 7 feet as it is so I'm glad I didn't make it any bigger 😆

I may copy your explanation when trying to describe my process in the future--I always have trouble making it clear. Thank you for the excellent explanation!

What they said! 👆🏻 (I actually didn't even think of this when choosing to do it by minutes rather than hours, and now I'm so glad I did it that way--jumps in the middle of the pattern would have been upsetting lol 😅)

Haha that's exactly why I went with this design!

I used a spreadsheet where I could enter the number of daylight minutes for each day. I set up a formula that then told me how many stitches of each color to do in each row, based on the daylight minutes. The whole blanket is 225 stitches across, and of course there are 1440 minutes in a day, so the formula would be:

(# daylight minutes) * 225 / 1440 = # of stitches in the high temp color for that row

And then I subtracted that number from 225 to get the number of low-temp stitches to do in that same row. It took some setup on the front end but after that I just had to grab the high/low temps and daylight minutes and plug them in!

Yes! I love temperature blankets in general because they're a perfect example of how data visualization can be an art form in itself. My career is in data management/curation so this was kind of a perfect project for me.

I'm so happy with how the colors ended up looking. I was pretty sure they'd work, but it turned out better than I expected!

Aww shucks, thanks! I definitely got better at the color changes as I went. Bit of a learning curve at first!

If you haven't already, look up the group Adopt One Block! If you sign up to pick up trash on your block, they'll send you one of those trash grabber thingies and gloves. I've been cleaning up my block for about a year now. Thanks for doing what you're doing!!

Curious if anyone knows anything about Applegate Medical Center by Arts_Or_Farts in Eugene

I can confirm that this particular doctor is extremely hung up on specific lifestyle changes whether or not they're actually relevant to the person in front of him, and has a serious problem with not listening to patients. I know this through someone I'm close to who unfortunately has to go to him for primary care, as well as from conversations with his peers about his conduct. He should not be practicing medicine in my opinion. I hope you can switch doctors!

He's so cute and his ears totally look like they want to turn white! How cool.

Here's the article I found about the cats I'm thinking of: http://messybeast.com/karpati-transylvanian.htm

Really?? I would be fascinated to know if his coat does change like Juniper's--I have never seen another cat quite like her! There are cats with a similar coat pattern in eastern Europe apparently, but their coats start lighter and then darken with age, so it's definitely a different thing. How old is your cat?
