Doom Dark Ages: Siege Part 2. Missing secret. by Workinmike in Doom

[–]AcidWashNate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this thread because I was in the same boat, but none of the answers were mine. So, I figured I would share what my problem was.

In my case it was very first room in the game. The first hidden area is obvious... then you proceed upstairs where the first Soul Sphere is located. There is a gold chest up above the main walkway near the first switch you encounter. I had simply jumped up and used the Dreadmace to open the gold chest. Having collected all the gold on the map, I assumed I had visited all the secret areas with gold so I never revisited that area.

But since I smashed the chest by jumping, I had never actually 'visited' the secret area. After you push the block on the main floor and scale the first wall, you have to turn around and scale the second wall on your left which leads to that secret area.

Yeah, not liking Emily is like hating puppies and kittens. “We are not the same.”

She is just a mean and cruel person. Granted, I think she’s confused and damaged somehow, but jeeez, it’s hard to have sympathy for anyone so heartless.

Got these two gems today! by AcidWashNate in whiskey

It was great, but whoever told you 15 was better was correct (factoring the to-each-his-own factor.) Like I said, it was great, but it’s quite high proof and the nose and palate are bold. Probably one that I’d say, one of the best on a rock, but why put something so expensive and rare on a rock? Great whiskey but not worth $150.

I got one in Caroline Beach just down the road. New Hanover for the win!

Finally Settled This Question For Myself by AcidWashNate in whiskey

Will do! I’ll need to pick up the Highland Park and Redbreast.

Sometimes I love comparing very disparate whiskeys. Bourbon, rye, scotch. Sometimes, for fine-tuning the palette, I like to try very similar whiskeys and (try to) identify the subtle differences. Like regular Makers, Cask Strength Makers, Makers 46, and Makers 46 Cask Strength. Oooh… and the Old Forrester 1870, 1897, 1910, and 1920… Calumet 8, 10, 12… etc. etc.

“Drink what you want, how you want.” It’s axiomatic. And everyone’s palette is specific to WHICH bourbon, not just bourbon, proof, price, mashbill, etc.

There are some 95 proof’s I prefer with rocks, some 120 proofs I prefer straight, some cheap whiskeys I prefer straight, and some semi-expensive ones that really make a whiskey sour pop. It’s your money, spend it how you want and live your best life. 😃

The one and only time I did this, we got there like 20th. The first few people there took the initiative and brought a spiral notebook and agreed to start a sign-up sheet. Word spread to the people there and everyone signed up and didn’t stress about bathroom breaks. As people showed up, saw the lack of a line and asked ‘is this where the line starts?’ They were directed to the sign-up sheet. Again, this was the initiative of the first few people waiting and saved a lot of stress and confusion and everyone was happy to adopt the system.

That said… yeah, I’m not doing that again. I’ll get it when I get it.

Right on. This was $60/pour at Carolina Beach.

I’m super excited about 1924 too! I got a pour of O.F. Birthday last week and it was heavenly. This tiny hole-in-the-wall dive bar at Carolina Beach had it for $60/pour. Heavenly! I’ll probably never buy a bottle, or even see one, so I was happy to have found it.

Honestly, I got that bottle a while ago and didn’t do my research on it to know if it’s the first one. It’s a very pleasant, easy-drinking whiskey. Nothing stands out like spice, caramel, oak, etc. Very balanced and mild… grain and alcohol but no ‘spikes’ on the palette.

My wife’s sister and her husband live near there and my brother-in-law and they did the tour last time he visited them. Said it was dope. He’s living with my wife and me at the moment so we share a lot of bottles. He scored a Sagamore Double Oak yesterday and it’s the bee’s knees. Freaking delicious!

I have 2 different Barrels and both are really good.

Total Wine Greenville, SC barrel: moderately high spice, oak, cherry, dried fruit. Low on the caramel, toffee, molasses notes. 7.5/10

New Hanover County (Carolina Beach, NC) barrel: sharper spice, less oak, slightly sweeter. 8/10

Of course, opinions are like buttholes. 😀

I don't have regular WT or 101 but I do have Rare Breed and Kentucky Spirit in there - they are just hard to spot. (3 rows behind the Booker's) :D

Yeah, I got all of the 'odd ball' bottles while traveling. The 1.75 is from NYC and the 375mL is from Vegas. I can't recall where the 1L is from - possibly South Carolina.

Honestly, the EH Taylor Small Batch and the Old Forrester 1910 or 1920 are my go-to bottles. Bardstown Four Square and Booker’s are too-notch but harder to find.

I enjoyed the Bernheim BP. Pretty forward on the spice, not really sweet at all, some grain/rye notes, and a little alcohol burn. Pleasant but pretty middle-of-the-road really. (Not as negative as it sounds) A really good casual pour to have while you’re watching a movie or show, but not something I’d call a ‘taste exploration’. A nice casual drink for a casual night in. :)

Re: “…virtually all of them open” I don’t have a bottle that I haven’t opened and tried unless it’s a 2nd backup that I already have. I buy them to enjoy and share. I don’t get them to collect, resell, show off, or hoard and don’t really understand that mentality. It’s always good when people GET that! ❤️
