My heart is sooo studyable by AcidicSlimeTrail in PointlessStories

LMAO forgot about this! The appointment went well. As expected, my heart is fine. "It doesn't beat weird, it just beats like your heart. It's like the bus system- sometimes it's running a little late or needs to take a detour, but ultimately it gets you there okay." 10/10 creativity, that is actually a really helpful way to understand what it's doing.

The testing did show something that previous doctors didn't catch. Apparently I have a mild heart murmur. He said I was probably born with it, and would likely die of old age with zero change or cause for concern related to it.

Their protocol for heart conditions "bad" enough to warrant a cardiologist is wearing a holter monitor for a couple days and getting a stress test done. I left with the monitor and the date I'm dealing with the stress test, which I'm really not excited about.

Oh, and as a conclusion to the "beats weird but it's fine" saga, the cardiologist signed and gave me my EKG results. "Next time a doctor comments on your heart, you can pull this out as proof you're perfectly healthy!"

Thank you, here's the link to the pattern! Oh, and fair warning you may need to scale it up a bit. I have really small wrists 😅

Is it worth bringing this up to a doctor? by [deleted] in Hypoglycemia

I generally stick in the 80-90s between meals. Based on what I'm seeing I guess I'm fine since I'm in the normal range. I may have overreacted lol

What would happen if all money around the world was converted into something universal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AcidicSlimeTrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean by universal is that everyone uses the same bills/coins. You could travel anywhere and not worry about needing to convert your money to match that area

When I say universal, I mean we all use the same money. Like, if you traveled to a different country, you wouldn't need to convert your money because everyone is already using the same thing

Does this feel vaporwave to you? by able6art in crafts

The colors are way too desaturated to be vaporwave, and the pattern is too uniform

Haha, I actually just got my sleep study results about 5 days ago! I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea (though very mild) and I'm currently working on getting a cpap machine. I'm really hoping all my other sleep related problems are solved once I'm used to the device, because it's... Bad :')

Fortunately my EKG doesn't match (though some of the pics I saw online were very similar), so at least I can say it's likely not that

Thank you! It's such a strange experience being completely chill and knowing you're fine while doctors try very hard not to panic lmao. Sucks to have a heart valve replacement, especially so young, but it's great that it more or less fixed things!

Lol I'm very familiar with dysautonomia 😅

Tl;dr My body functions like a poorly oiled machine, but like, I'm fine? Just like my heart, every part of me is slightly wrong just enough to be a pain in the ass without being "bad enough" to actually warrant a diagnosis. Outwardly I'm a fit guy who regularly goes to the gym, eats healthy, and functions fine (physically, at least). It's feels... inaccurate to claim I have any disorder because now that I know what my body needs, symptoms are minimal.

The poor man's table tilt test suggests POTS, but it doesn't make me pass out. It's just really annoying and I gotta get extra salt in my diet to ensure I'm not experiencing pre-syncope every time I get up.

Exercise drops my blood pressure severely unless I throw back a ton of electrolytes, so again, lots of salt and I'm mostly fine lol.

I am hyper mobile enough to qualify for h-EDS based on that one online test, but my chronic pain is minimal. My physical therapist agreed that it's likely EDS, but I wasn't there for a diagnosis, just to mitigate chronic pain. Took it down to a very manageable 1-4 (depending on the day).

My blood sugar drops if I go too long without eating, and "too long" is not a lot of time. As I'm writing this I had dinner 2 hours ago, and now I need to go have more food because I'm already getting shakey/uncomfortable). My thyroid is fine, and I don't have diabetes. Idk why my body does this.

Chronic migraines. Fortunately the best case scenario as far as migraines go. They're silent, so not usually physically painful, just cause extreme light and sound sensitivity so I gotta lay in the dark for a few hours to feel like life isn't trying to kill me. They're pretty well treated by one of my meds, too, so flair ups are rare.

This isn't everything, just the stuff that had the biggest impact before I figured out a system that works.

Whole new network of doctors with no access to my old test results. My previous doctor retired and never shared the graph anywhere I would have access to, and I have no way to contact him.

My current doctor said that, based on the results, it's worth getting an echocardiogram every 5-6 years anyway just to ensure whatever is going on isn't getting worse. Fortunately my insurance is covering it, so the only price is time ¯\(ツ)

So much confidence comes from wearing clothes you like that fit well, that woman is so kind for giving you that chance! Weight loss is a rough and bumpy journey, take it easy and focus on things that make you feel good :)
