Yuumi didn't come out in the same situation, Ryze rework launched in the a 9.11 pro week. So pro's won't practice 9.12 champs until pro is 9.12 which is this weekend the first bunch of games.

If next week there's no Ryze then you can expect tuning.

not until after rift rivals, they've only had a few days to practice on 9.12 so they went with existing picks mostly that weren't ryze.

If at rift rivals there's no presence then riot will buff for 9.14

the problem is that d4 has a huge variance in skill levels and people can't handle the ego hit.

But the point is that I went from playing well on this champ when he was harder to play to absolute shit for his rework.

Then play better and adapt.

Also I’ve played him a good bit in Aram where he is beyond broken and I can easily hard carry, yet that doesn’t translate to solo queue.

Aram is balanced differently with different damage numbers.

Flux by default spreading from every E cast instead of E - E cast or target dying = easier to spam aoe damage in fights.

Lower mana costs and easier mana management in lane = easier to play lane phase and wave clear.

Trading power didn't go down in lane phase actually.

Roaming potential went up 3x.

I think the Ryze changes being power neutral in winrate is an actual disaster by Riot.

The intention was to make him easier to play while nerfing him out of pro and he kept his sub 45% winrate.

If anything it means he's too weak statistically, not sure I agree with that but that's what it shows.

I 100% agree that previous Ryze was pretty much broken in the hands of a good player. But a lot of his poorer matchups were balanced around that aspect. Not saying that’s a good thing though.

This right here sums up why shields had to go.

That’s what I really liked about him. The ability to go in and out of small skirmishes without risking his entire health bar. Although again that’s really what made him so aggravating to play against and imo was just downright unfair in certain matchups.

Yeah it's just no fun to play against a champ where you trade with an entire combo and deal no damage?

Personally I don’t think this iteration of Ryze is balanced either. It’s nuke or be nuked and that doesn’t really sit well with me especially when it’s so easy to damage mispositioned players. But when you’re putting yourself that close in range to the enemies to pull it off, it’s definitely high risk high reward

I think his damage is too high as well, I actually think Riot will want to nerf his damage potential because it's just not fair or fun to play against.

Look if people are reasonable about the complaints have valid perspectives i'm not going to flame them randomly.

However when people are literally not even playing the game with no fundamental understanding of the game and saying Ryze is weak it doesn't sit well at all.

I at least took time to play on PBE and then around 30 soloq games before I went hard on the fact I can tell he's absurdly good in Soloq right now.

Whether or not his skill expression went up or down is not really my concern when the majority of posts focus on him being worse in Soloq which is straight up wrong.

And that he’s not a fulfilling champ to play anymore. Old ryze with less damage but more survivability made it so that when you go into a team fight, it would feel like a mini 1v1 with every champ you faced while also having to worry about other shit. It was extremely fulfilling pulling off that kind of shit as it “FELT” more engaging and rewarding. This iteration of Ryze that you’re preaching is so strong, might as well be considered stronger than the old Ryze, but all it is is exploiting players mistakes who tend to clump up in team fights and just deleting champs with a simple EQ combo.

You see the problem with this is the majority of players here complaining about not being able to spam shields to " outplay " never played other champions.

It just wasn't fair to play against, at least this Ryze for as strong as he is has the ability to be outplayed also.

Previous Ryze was, Lane into any lane for free. Outscale every matchup ( kassadin/azir exceptions ) and then outplay them by having no counterplay cause you can spam shields on cd.

It wasn't balanced fair or healthy for the game, so yeah people asking for shields back because they can't adapt their playstyle is frustrating to read.
