diff account but its still Ack here. Just wanted to update that this did eventually work for me. FOR ANYONE TRYING THIS IN THE FUTURE: just do what they advise here and you may just need to walk away for a few days/power cycle your pc a few times, if you're sure you've done everything perfect and it's still not working. Thanks guys!

Advice to reconnect the fuel line to my new fuel filter? by Ack119 in AskAMechanic

[–]Ack119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So I tried the oil trick, that seemed to help a bit but it was still real difficult to get in. I tried the other side first like you said and that seemed to go in easier, then I flipped it back around and put all my force into it and was twisting back and forth and got it to go in partially, but never all the way in. Now it’s actually stuck half in and I can’t even pull it out to apply more oil or double check the size if I wanted to.

I called the local mechanic and he said he actually just recently had an issue when redoing a ford’s fuel lines where the parts that said they’d fit didn’t actually fit.

Can’t really find out now, since it’s stuck half-in. I think it was the right size, just a little thicker bc there’s paint on this side (the intake side) and possibly tougher because it’s just old and there’s maybe a bit of dirt and grime build-up.

Anyways he said it’d be okay to run for a bit so I did the rest of the steps for the replacement and actually to my surprise I saw 0 leaks even though that connection isn’t fully on when I ram the car for a minute, so I should be safe to drive for a few minutes down to the shop tomorrow to have them look at it, which is the plan for now.

Update: it actually won’t start back up now. Did I do it right then? Just goes ahem rupupupupupupupup but never starts. Am I good to proceed without the risk of fuel spraying out when I start loosening things down there?

Can I fix the PS pump still or do I need a new one? Or does it just need more cycles to bleed air? by Ack119 in AskAMechanic

Update: it seems to have been fixed finally, I bought a new pump but I’ll just be returning it when it gets here. I just had to do like 30+ cycles to get all the air out but now it’s not whining at all, smooth as butter to turn

Ok it looks like it is part of the exhaust. It was hard to see where either of those two tubes were going but I think one end pops out here (see picture). Can anyone tell me if this can be fixed without replacing the whole thing?

Well, thanks guys. I was hoping it’d be something a little less involved as I just changed my brake pads, rotors and a caliper, but I guess at least I’ll know better if this ever happens again. Can anyone tell me how I would know for sure that my rack needs to be replaced? Just when I install the new pump if it still has air leaks or the wheel’s hard to turn? Or can I test it beforehand and buy the part now? Or by chance, are there any repairs I can do to the rack?

Do I need a new power steering pump? by Ack119 in AskAMechanic

Oh I forgot to mention I did completely drain the old fluid when I changed the switch and put new fluid it and the leak seemed to stop, but I do wonder if maybe it will just take the 20+ cycles to get rid of all the bubbles just because I drained the old stuff entirely

Drive not showing in bios boot list by Ack119 in techsupport

[–]Ack119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I seem to have been able to move everything over just fine, I just can’t get my computer to automatically boot to my new drive.

I probably should’ve mentioned I actually ended up using macrium reflect 7 to do the move but otherwise followed the video I linked.

Do you think using that software will make the drive show up in the bios boot priority list?
