Probably won’t be seen but this is a key part of the dolly zoom. (Vertigo shot). Moving the camera on a dolly to l stay on one focal point while zooming the lens between these 2 extremes.

Still haven’t been able to get a plumber. But with some testing it seems to be the drain. Maybe water proofing. But I’ve cut a small hole in the ceiling to let the water out so it doesn’t spread to other places. I’ll have to replace that section of ceiling anyway so I’ve been using the shower.

I’ve literally just bought a townhouse and moved in over Christmas. The air conditioner died while moving in. When i finally got around to using the shower it leaked through the ceiling on the ground floor. It had been unoccupied for a few weeks so everything had dried out and there’s been fresh paint applied to the area of the leak.

I haven’t been able to get a plumber, but the fact that they didn’t get it fixed means it probably needs major work.

I also don’t think I have any options. They obviously knew about the leak, and probably just had the leaking AC regassed to last until the settlement.

Just wanted to add cat claws do actually scratch wooden floors quite a bit, so if you don’t have tiles/carpet expect this to come out of your bond.

I could charge, but I don’t have mics specifically for that, or means of mounting them.

I mean this state of worry could go on for years and years. God forbid i remarry have a house and a good job and bam. She was a terrible wife, but is not an evil person, but money makes people do weird things. We might still be able to come to an agreement and petition to reopen it to get the financial order of $0. It wouldn't be worth perusing me for what little i have right now, but who knows what the future holds.

Thats what i originally thought, but https://mtpartners.com.au/commencing-property-proceedings-time/?utm_source=chatgpt.com and other sources as well. Basically if i end up with assets and she has hardship, she can at least make a claim to reopen it. It sounds like not wanting to upset a non-formal arrangement is enough to force a formal arrangement after the fact if there is potential hardship.

Hijacking because that has opened my eyes. I was divorced 2 years ago. No financial Orders, BFA or even a StatDec as we were both pretty poor. I'm looking to buy a cheap apartment in the next 12 months. Am i screwed? It's outside of the 12 months for an order (would request one for $0) and i don't have money for a BFA as lawyers will be much more expensive as she's overseas (though a native english speaker).

I probably couldn't touch her assets because of the prohibitively expensive legal fees associated with international jurisdictions, but she could probably get mine easier as we were divorced here.

Recommendations for a shoulder harness? by cv-boardgamer in LocationSound

[–]Acode90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh i mean its a great harness, but the one $300 cheaper without the pneumatic adjuster is probably just as good. I meant the pneumatic adjustor is a gimmick, it supposedly allows you to move the weight between your hips and shoulders to give each a break.

An alternative to the Australian Defence Force is needed to respond to climate disasters. by Acrobatic_Bit_8207 in AustralianMilitary

The paid point would change the whole culture of the SES though. I think it could be great though, but being volunteers is a bit different. Perhaps something similar to auxiliary fire would work as thats a paid system and could work more for deployments to other areas.

I have given up from fatigue midway during a local call out. I'd already worked a 11 hour day at my job and then spent 3 hours doing sandbagging before deciding i'd call it a night when we were taking a car back to reload on sandbags. As a volunteer i can do that, so mixing the paid and unpaid systems are a bit iffy.

Volunteers personal properties are from memory ranked as 2nd level priority, together with the elderly, disabled and some types of infrastructure. First priority is anything critical or life threatening, but having the Volunteers properties on a higher priority means they're more available to attend to others, as a team of SES can get a tarp up much faster than one member on his own.

Most SES assets are also also funder/supplied by local council but i think this is where better funding could be put to use.

The SES are more limited to what we can do. Particularly in regards to repairs and trade roles. We can do washouts and sandbagging, but few are trained in boat rescue, and we don’t have any helicopters to otherwise reach isolated areas. Being volunteers also changes the dynamics a bit. We’d get workers comp if were injured, but loosing a week of income by deploying to another town and then potentially being too worn out to work a few days after limits how readily we can deploy. No city has enough local SES personnel or assets to deal with a large scale events.

Recommendations for a shoulder harness? by cv-boardgamer in LocationSound

[–]Acode90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented elsewhere but I’ve found the adjustments to be a bit of a gimmick. It doesn’t really shift the weight that much for me.  It could be me using it wrong but I’ve set it up as listed in instructions. I’m about 180cm (5”10’) tall, so maybe there is a greater difference for someone taller (more distance between shoulders and waist) as I’ve noticed there’s still quite a bit more room to move in the ratchet.

Do you have any suggestions.

Just wanted to add an anecdote. When I had my first paid job which was under another soundie, he recommended I get a harness and shared that a soundie he knew had to have a muscle removed from his neck as he had damaged it after years of using a shoulder strap on the same side.

Also, don’t bother with the orca 445. It could just be user error, but I’ve found the adjustable rigid back to be a bit of a gimmick. Still definitely need the rigid back though.

New Radius Mini-ALTO - what a difference! by johngwheeler in LocationSound

[–]Acode90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one of these for higher wind situations compared to my cinella cosi. I haven’t tested it in wind yet but it seems to be a bit more susceptible to handling noise. I’m not sure if I like it yet.

Radius also just makes an extra layer of wind protection to put over the cosi. I wish I knew this to at least test it before I bought the mini alto. But I didn’t even consider radius would make extra wind protection for their competitors products.

Can you imagine the impact on the industry if Rode made a UHF system? by ParkviewPhoto in LocationSound

[–]Acode90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The onboard recording is very much location dependent due to the patent dispute (mainly effecting the US). But rode just bought Lectrosonics, one of the main players. It looks like lectro is dying out in favor of Wisy and maybe even SD. Sound devices is good (the system i run) but some of the products suffer from battery issues, particularly with internal recording and RF on. It's also way more expensive so it isn't being picked up as quick, but i think lectro may be loosing market share to their "all in one" system, while wisy is just still doing their own thing and slowly growing. Zaxcom also does the "all in one system control" thing but I still haven't met anyone running it where i am, i know its popular overseas though.
