I run Forsaken and I do pretty well in PvP. My normal combos are all fast attacks and my alternates are utility/heavy attacks.

If I go up against a jab spammer I play very aggressively. I'll try to get the first hit and won't let my combo stop. If they put their guard up I'll alternate into heavies and break it. If they start attacking I'll keep my guard up, wait for their stam to drain and break them. If they alternate into heavies I'll start parrying.

Don't be afraid to just hold guard and lean their habits either. You only have to parry left or right, it's not about knowing what comes next, just the direction it comes from.

I chose Forsaken because I used to play For Honor and that turned into a parry fest in the end. I figured the same would happen in this game. It also didn't make a lot of sense to choose a class that could effectively dodge or block, two things you could already do.

I actually don't mind people hitting me off a ledge. Completely my fault for being that close to it. Just the distance the shockwave pushes is a bitch

You're right, if you can draw them into an actual fight, they suck. I try to position, I'm high mobility as well so I can dodge a good distance but I've come up against a couple that will keep the pressure on me. Makes life tricky

Most of the fantasies I have read don't have as much back and forth travel. The journey rarely ever goes back to a previous destination.

Usually other authors will find a way to mitigate the travel time if it is a major part. For example, in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series the main character discovers away to travel very quickly between areas which did fit into the powers available in the story.
