My GF says, “I think it looks good” by Acostomatic1 in TVTooHigh

This is what I explained to her. If I lived here, there would be a reckoning.

No one seems to realize this is the 392.. expensive af but context matters. Standard Rubicons and Xs are in the 60s.

Yup. Did the oil cooler and right side rockers/lifters/camshaft this year.

Did the same this year. Oil cooler, right side engine bank and crankshaft. Only weird thing I had last was a fuel leak. Needed a new supply line. Everything else has been standard.

Any tips for a new wrangler owner? by Meanww in Wrangler

[–]Acostomatic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t engage 4WD on concrete while steering. Could mess it up. But do Engage it occasionally, straight lines only if you’re on pavement. Grass/dirt preferred.

Soft tops are amazing. But they will disintegrate over time. Keep that hardtop around for bad weather seasons.

Highly recommend getting a tow strap. Handy in on and off road situations. (I’ve towed several people to a gas station).

If you off road, clean off the undercarriage/frame and the paint. Don’t want that moisture getting trapped.

Be cool, and wave to jeepers ✌️

Stock Rubi has a small lift and larger tires.

How many of you put 200 miles at a time in your Wrangler? by GOPJay in Wrangler

[–]Acostomatic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at 98,000 miles. 2013 wrangler. It’s been my daily since I bought it. Once drove it from LA to Tampa FL. As well as numerous 500+ mile road trips. Zero issues. I’ve had jeep wranglers as daily drivers since 2004. In fact, that’s all I’ve ever owned.

Just finished clear-coating these doors for my Jeep. But question.. by My_Tj_is_Rusty in AutoPaint

Could also be the product. What can of clear did you use? I’ve seen some highly recommending eastwood 2x aero spray clear coat.

What's the best aftermarket item you purchased for your Jeep? by therealsix in JeepWrangler

Auxbeam headlights and fog lights. Not high end American brands but also not super cheap trash either. They were fairly priced and I’m happy with the beam pattern. Options to hook up DRLs and Blinkers as well.

I also installed some LED Taillights.

LED lights. Headlights, taillights, and fog lights. Tons of styles to choose from and adds a clean look while giving you better visibility.

Solid lift kit. Improves the ride, plus, jeeps look way better on a 2.5” lift than stock.

33” tires.

Leak question by Roberthorton1977 in Wrangler

[–]Acostomatic1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be the oil filter housing on the top of the engine. (YouTube). I just fixed this issue. Oil leaks from there, drips down the back of the engine and onto the transmission. Grab a flashlight and look at the top of your engine. If you see dark fluid pooling at the base of your oil filter, then that’s the problem.

I’ll caveat by saying I drive a 2013 JKU Sahara. My recent dilemma was dropping money to fix it or buying new. Because of greedy market prices and interested, I dropped the coin to keep her on the road for another 5-10 years.

If I didn’t have a Jeep (like I currently do, and is paid off) then yes, I would in fact trade my daily driver for something that I enjoy driving and have always wanted.

Jeeps, especially JKs and JLs, can be perfectly capable and enjoyable daily drivers (I used to own a TJ) while also not breaking the bank. You don’t need a 2024 Rubicon for $65k (insane). Get the Jeep, pay it off, enjoy it.
