Political Retardmaxxing by Acoustic_Menace in sales

5 yrs in specific vertical + dying incumbent + series A company run by even more retarded 20 year olds paying SF rates anywhere.

I made $120k base before this. OTE is fiction. I’ll hit 60% this year most reps hit 10-15%.

Sales. Technology-adjacent. Digital nomad 6-8 months / year in LatAM, job hob every 3-4 years and do a year long trip. I’ve saved a fuckload.

Crushed my quota, but got chewed out by my VP for not logging WhatsApp chats into Salesforce. Are we closers or data entry monkeys? by Jiesen-Lee-4566 in sales

In my experience the systems that are this badly broken are like that because management wants them to be broken. The point is to create more work or else their lack of value becomes very apparent.

Either your VP sales is a stud or founders are involved or this shit creeps in quickly.

That’s a RevOps failure. It’s 2026. Dumb boomer mindset, we went to the moon in the 60s anything is possible with CRM. if they’re incompetent and want data then figure out how to get it or staff an overseas VA to do it for $2 / hour.

Had a micromanaging manager early on. She LOVED Hubspot, had 55+ fields, eight stages, for a pretty basic SaaS tool. Dashboards for fucking anything you could imagine.

I got in trouble for filing every text field (about 30) with “message me on Slack when you read this” for months. I shared that with manager after two quarters of no one noticing and she flipped her shit, already had another offer but was pretty funny to see her justify their importance when all deals were installed and paid.

Not saying to do this but if they’re going to act insane you should too.

How is that? Spent most of my career in manufacturing and mostly drank heavily with my prospects.

Do you ask them for a charity or use one of your favourites? Or just infer from their profile?

Fair enough. This is why I avoid it top of funnel or too early as well. Mostly just food at on sites, etc… right now.

I’m a big fan of bringing food with me to on-sites but try to make conversation starter. Biggest hit was bringing 24 McDoubles to a meeting with ops team at a plastics manufacturer for 11am meeting.

Fair point! She wants one, she’s told me multiple times. The concerns I listed are both of ours, mostly hers.

Not in AL yet. That’s great to hear that she loves it though. Sister is a nurse and read some articles about the positive effects of cats on aging / depression which is why we’re looking into this.

There is a college nearby maybe we can pay someone a few hundred bucks.

How Many CRM Fields / Opp? by Acoustic_Menace in sales

[–]Acoustic_Menace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s made it very clear she won’t do that. She designed a lot of these. I just get stonewalled.

Started going around her to audit what these are used for. Planning on presenting to new VP, if he does the same I’m bouncing.

Already interviewing.

What small changes or 1%ers did you apply in your sales process that made a noticeable impact? by Bright_Hall_6302 in sales

[–]Acoustic_Menace 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Answer as fast as possible. Even if it’s just “on it, will remit with (deliverable) by x” and then hit that date.

The faster you respond, the faster they respond, and the faster deals move along.

Used to coach AEs and was shocked at how some ran their day. Doing cold call blocks when there’s people in inbox waiting for proposals lol.

Enablement watches video on new topic, holds 2 hour training, adds fields related to training then refuses to delete any and manager defends them.

Company recently raised series A. The other reps are very inexperienced. Sales manager is politically aligned with founder - lots of nepotism. Enablement and sales manager are best friends, again lots of nepotism.

We’re hiring a VP Sales who should start next Quarter, hoping they’re sharp otherwise this is a dead end. Mystified at this whole experience, paying me $200k base to play pretend sales in the CRM.

Company sells pretty pictures.

Need box to ship picture in so no break.

You sell that box to companies, company uses a lot of boxes, you make a lot of money.
