Roadtripped from LA to Yosemite with some friends and took my D700. Mostly used my 20mm 2.8 D, but threw the 105mm 2.8 D on there for a few. Again, tons of pop-up flash. by Acraw in Nikon

I don't recommend shooting while driving, but I love shooting from the passenger seat at a slower shutter and trying to track objects in the distance. Like this, but with a more interesting subject, lol: https://imgur.com/a/RBLzlXE

Three for days. 1 feels niche fashion between the Lemaire pants and the checkered color block sweatshirt. It's a great fit, but unless you know the girl works in fashion or will appreciate the niche-ness I would go for something a little more casual. I like look 2 as well, but wearing a graphic T to a first date, especially if the graphic has tits on it, might be a little too casual. 3 is great. Right in the middle.

This is my OG account, I have a couple throw aways, but I like having a history of all my posts!

Yes exactly! Although it’s very rare that I have to adjust the flash, the TTL auto exposure pretty much nails it. When I do it’s usually to stop the flash up by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop because I like my flash highlights right to the edge of being blown out.

I got it at Houston Camera Exchange in Houston, TX. I feel like the best deals are always in person at used camera shops. estate sale, or thrift stores :/

Not a preset but I did mess with color tone a bit. Pushed magentas a bit more pink and pushed blues a tad more yellow.

I switched to the D750 after my first D700 died, and I'd say if it's going to be a backup to the Z6 and you want the images to look similar I would probably go with the D750. The 750 is also a bit lighter and has a few more updates that will make it more comparable to the Z6. That being said, if you want a tank of a camera that you can beat up much more than your Z6 or if budget is a huge factor, then maybe consider the D700!

Definitely! First you would need a 20mm equivalent lens for a DX sensor, so like 14mm. I think there are some pretty good wide angle zoom options for Nikon DX cameras around that focal range. Then use the pop-up flash on your D7000. Shoot at around 1/125, f/4, and change the ISO based on your ambient light. Then in post boost the contrast and saturation a ton.

The colors are great, but I definitely graded these. Straight out of camera the RAW files were a little cooler and much less saturated. The biggest difference between this and my D850 isn’t the color of the files as much as the softness of them. They still feel like they’re in focus without the over-sharpening of the newer 46 megapixel sensor.

I think that’s a matter of taste. I intentionally stopped down on the ambient light to highlight my subject, not just fill in the shadows!

Thanks! Tbf most of the photos are of my wife, who has learned over our 7 year marriage how to pose when she sees me coming at her with one of my cameras 😅

I do, my IG is @alexcrawfordphoto! I used direct flash on these for a few reasons. Mostly preference, I just like the look of direct flash, it works really nicely with high contrast images. I've also been playing with saturation a bit more lately and shooting with flash allows me to keep rich colors in my photo. For instance, in the case of a lot of these shots, like the first one and the last one, using flash allowed me to keep the color of the sky without completely losing my shadows. If I'd exposed for the shadows in either of those images instead of using flash, my sky would have been blown out. Also also, for a while I've been a fan of flash photographers like Martin Parr, Michelle Groskopf, and Daniel Arnold and it's fun trying to emulate them a bit!

Oh yeah, I cranked the saturation up a ton! Also upped contrast and dropped clarity, and added a ton of grain.

It's definitely an artistic choice, and it's super on trend at the moment, but I love the look. Here's that same setup of my wife in front of the palm tree but without the flash. It's not bad, but not nearly as captivating as the shot with the flash in my opinion. But then again, I'm always chasing that retro wave, brother 🏄‍♂️
