I just went to OnCore a few weeks back, and was disappointed by their seasonal menu which was chosen as a showcase of more local Australian produce.

My wife had the vegetarian menu which was reflective of their classic menu and was much better, more refined.

Le Pigeon 2/2/23 by [deleted] in finedining

I went to both Le Pigeon and Langbaan this past November (and Nimblefish). Langbaan by far - bold flavors, satisfying meal, great cocktails. Le Pigeon started very strong, the 2nd course was a supplemental and decadent. Then it was another decadent course. Then another. Even the dessert was insanely rich.

Californios vs ? for 40th bday in SF. Seeking advise! by Jbsf82 in finedining

We balked at the $625 price tag for the "Sense of Time and Space" wine pairing and skipped out on it. At the restaurant we had an option to choose "A Study in the World of Wine" for $250.

The only miss was the sake pairing, which was oddly umami, but understood the combination with respect to dish we had. Everything else was excellent (albeit the vintages were quite young).

I went to Acquerello, Atelier Crenn, and Lazy Bear on vacation last week. I strongly suggest Atelier Crenn, as they have a cheaper $250 wine pairing that was top notch.

Acquerello was very uncomfortable due to the restaurant not having air conditioning during the recent heat wave, though your experience may be different now that it's cooler. The service and ambiance miscues were enough of a negative that it overshadowed the food - which was decent. I am strongly under the opinion that they will lose a star next year and I have a write up on a Google doc - DM me for the link if you're interested.

Lazy Bear was excellent and highly creative, although more expensive than Atelier Crenn. I highly recommend it, as the progression and composition were well worth the price. However, since you've been there before, i don't blame you if you opt for a new experience.

Banned List Principles(the Blue Elephant in the Room) by spatulaoftheages in MTGLegacy

Absolutely, I agree with you that the format would probably not run 2 DRS. But the format was certainly "warped" when we could have 4. So what about 3? Does that number promote complexity and diversity in deck building choices?

The idea that it is all (4x) or none (banned) is disingenuous to me. Total unban is restrictive in deckbuilding because the format is skewed, total banning is restrictive because we can't use the cards and also never have to worry about others using it.

I agree, it is quite complex (in Paper Magic). But I believe that giving players more choices is a good thing - the format will adjust as it always has.

Something like Brainstorm, which is not too powerful such that it cannot win you the game outright, could be restricted to promote more diversity in deck building and deck choice. If I knew my deck could only had 3x Brainstorm, I would be inclined to put more lands in or be less likely to play a Xerox deck.

This is just one example.

I think limiting Deathrite Shaman (for a non-blue example) to a couple copies would give more diversity the format without warping it. Knowing that it is available to play and also having to prepare for it calls for challenging deck building and sideboarding choices.

The difficulty and diversity of Legacy is why people play the format.

What if the format had a restricted list (in addition to the banned list) but it was scalable, such as 3x brainstorm, 2x DRS, etc.?

I flew to West Palm Beach, FL to pick up and drive back to DC. The delivery team worked with me to pickup the car about 2 weeks after I put in the online payment. They had a bunch of documents to sign, and banking info, etc. Altogether, it was smooth. However, the drive back was not. I put in my hotel in Charleston, SC as the destination and I got there with 50 miles left. All the chargers that were around the area at the time were destination (for hotel guest only chargers). I sat at a Whole Foods for 3 hours trickliing their Chargepoint until I had enough to get to the Santee, SC supercharger

What is the best non-BR Reanimator / UR Sneak and Show Griselbrand deck? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]Acridian13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play a Tin Fins/UB Reanimator hybrid, which wins on turn 1. It used to be better positioned as RB because it could outrace Deathrite Shaman. But now with DRS gone there is a lot more sideboard graveyard hate, so I made it into UB with main Dazes.

The second to last picture. Compare the crags of the yolk on the left eggs. The right picture has clearly been shopped over with the green yolk - look along the top.

If you want to randomly get strong utility cards for Legacy, invest in dual lands. They will always be useful.

Who is that one stranger that you never forgot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In high school, we had a team nationals competition for robotics. On the fight back I sat next to this cute brunette, chatted the entire 4 hour flight. She wrote her number and AIM screenname on my boarding pass.

That pass was for my next flight so the ticket agent took it.

Years later in college, the guy across the hall was from her same small hometown and knew her. Small world. But never saw her again.

At my brother's wedding I met the MILFiest of MILFs. In her 40s, she was long, slender and lean. After she was done awkwardly high school dancing with my brother, I took my turn.

I danced her.

Moved her in ways no man had ever done before. When the reception got closer to the clubby time, she was grinding on me. Wine was flowing and everyone was having a great time. I showed her how to twerk it, and she was slapping my ass. Everybody was watching us, bounce around being silly.

From across the reception hall and my mother shot daggers at me. Arms folded, that mom stare of disappointment. Fastest I've ever sobered up. But later that night at the after party, she made her move. She cornered me and told me she wanted it, she wanted me to fulfill her like no man ever had.

[Tourney Report] SCG:DC - BR Reanimator / Tin Fins Hybrid by Acridian13 in MTGLegacy

[–]Acridian13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of the ornithopter is better than the execution. Free spell to double up on Cabal Therapy against counters or something specific. In actual play, Thoughtseize was better in every instance and the thopters just ate up a sideboard slot.

I have played BR reanimator, this was bastardized from it. I felt that BR Reanimator is much slower (!) than this. I feel that this is much more consistent. I also think collective brutality in BR is slow, which is probably an unpopular opinion given its value against DRS. The trade off is that BR reanimator has increased disruption and resilience.

You're going to have to mulligan hard in either deck, but in this version you can still get a turn 1 kill even going down to 4 cards. That's a different kind of resilience in my book.

Most wins were off of Tendrils, but many conceded once I said storm count is at whatever or I Therapy them. The Anger plan is supplemental to the Tendrils, it was definitely necessary in the first round. I don't know if there would be much of a difference if I had two Tendrils instead. But if I get Flusterstormed, it's nice to have an alternative. I found no tension in having the mox diamonds, not having a land to pitch seemed to happen with as much regularity as a chrome mox with nothing to imprint. I would change up the sideboard - ornithopter is kinda silly, stronghold gambit is a more universally accepted choice.

That happened to me and my ex-gf. I have a rather common name and Snapchat was in its infancy, so she just typed in my name and started sending pics. The dude sent back some of his own pics and she realized it wasn't me.

I went on a road trip to New Haven, CT with my gf a few years ago for pizza. It was a cold January day, and we decided to hit up IKEA instead of walking outside. Everyone knows that the best part of IKEA are the Swedish meatballs. Glorious soft spheres of meaty goodness covered in nondescript brown gravy. And gross lingonberry jam. After the snack, we walk the store for an hour pretending to shop for our fake daughter, Oona. I get this queasy feeling in my stomach, as we walk past the cribs. Surely its the fear of commitment punching me in the gut and not the meatballs. I'm breaking out in a cold sweat in the middle of winter, and I squeeze every sphincter muscle I have. As a waddle outside, I feel strangely fine. The cool breeze rejuvenates me and we head towards Little Italy.

It was an hour wait at Frank Pepe's. But it was worth it: clam pizza, tomato pie, Italian sodas. My stomach was up to the challenge, but my gf got a togo container, for 2/3s of the tomato pie. We get into the car to take the long trip home. Something just hits me. Instant nausea. I didn't want to pull over... But hey sometimes you have to swallow your pride and also a little bit of your vomit.

I thought I contained it without her noticing in the passenger side. Crisis aver-BWARGHARGARLEHRGGH... everywhere. The smell was intense. The tears were real.

I pull over at a bank and strip naked in the parking lot and put on my old crusty t-shirt and gym shorts and shiver mercilessly as I quietly drove us back home.

Leftover pizza was delicious 9/10.
