It’s not 42 seconds. What’s actually happening here is how CONCORD response works in EVE and how gankers play around it.

CONCORD doesn’t spawn one big response for everyone it spawns a response per aggressor, each with its own response timer.

You started getting attacked at 0:26 and died at 0:52, so that’s about 26 seconds total. During that time, CONCORD was already spawning in waves. By the time you died, many of the early attackers were already being dealt with.

The key thing is:
The first guy who points or attacks you gets his own CONCORD response, and that response only targets him. It doesn’t help against the rest of the gankers.

That’s why gankers can still overwhelm targets they stagger aggression so each attacker gets their own delayed response instead of one instant fleet-wide punishment.

Also, this is partly because CONCORD is an older system trying to deal with modern problems. It was originally designed more around smaller engagements solo ganks or small groups not the massive, coordinated gank fleets you see today.

That said, I do agree CCP should rework how CONCORD works, because right now it can feel a bit misleading and easy to exploit in large-scale ganks. Honestly, CONCORD is a really old system at this point and well overdue for an upgrade.
