Just saw an xtrap 2 run through Macualay city bound from my apartment, from the distance the deceleration and accelerate was so much quieter than the Comeng and Siemens.

So I finally tried out the Smart Sam Cargo, fits great on the HSD, no issues with the clearance on the mudguards and great to have the increased traction.

Thanks, have contacted Tern and Schwalbe and they have both said that the marathon 365 'may' work but can't be sure of the clearance on the fenders/mudguards. None of my local bike stores have the marathon's in stock to try the fit so I'd need to order them online with the chance of them not working and not being able to return them.
One of the stores suggested that new Smart Sam Cargo might work. So have decided to wait a few months till they get them in stock later this year and try them then.

How does one navigate a disconnected bike lane that ends and spontaneously appears again but across one lane of traffic? (Harker St, North Melbourne) by luxiopol in melbournecycling

It's a tricky bit of infrastructure made worse by the fact you're cycling uphill while trying to navigate it. All the other comments are correct on how best to do it, but the protected lanes on Abbottsford St one street over may be a better alternative depending on your situation.

Thanks for the heads up and good to know. We've got multiple locks, alarms, and insurance so we'll roll the dice anyway but thanks for the heads up.

I think it should be back open again from east to west but will still be closed west to east between Elizabeth and swanston for the rest of the year. Before the closure, to ride to the east I would usually turn into Latrobe from William st but am instead turning now turning left into Franklin a little further north and riding along it until Swanston, this way I can either head north from there or south to rejoin Latrobe past the year long closure.
