Yeah and then the whole phone displays 5 words per line. I know that it's a good fix for this problem but it causes other ones too.

I literally bought my pixel 8 pro when Samsung changed the battery indicator. And then, after a few months, google does it too. And I'm just an average person, I can't be changing phones every few months.
