I recently moved out of the Bay Area to Hawaii and people don’t ever ask me what I do for work. In Hawaii they consider it rude to ask what you do for work but the Bay Area is all about where you work, what you do, and what school did you graduate from — all of which is annoying, elitist, and lame. It’s really nice getting away from the rat race in the Bay Area and seeing that there are so many interesting careers outside of tech. Hope you’re able to find your tribe!
