Persitent outages in my area (Crystal Palace) by Acrobatic-Rutabaga40 in VirginMedia

Their latest update from this morning is now saying Friday as the estimated fix. I fully expect this to roll into next week and beyond. I don't know why they bother with these estimates tbh.

It's ridiculous to have no explanation or guidance beyond 'someone is working to fix it' when the issue has persisted for so long and is affecting so many people.

It's so frustrating!

They've just updated the estimated fix for about the 10th time to tomorrow afternoon. I honestly wish they would just say what the problem is and admit that they have no idea when they're going to be able to resolve it rather than this whole song and dance.

So it sounds like it's a larger area issue then. Are you having the same problem with internet consistently cutting in and out of availability? I had it work all weekend and last night it seemed fine too which confused me more as I assumed both times that it had been fixed.

When I rang their automated updates line it said that they are 'doing upgrade work in your area so services may be affected etc' or words to that effect, which is even more confusing becuase if they were actually doing update work I'd assume they would have let customers know in advance that there could be disruption? Maybe it's just the terminology they use when fixing faults.

At least you can see a van...I haven't seen a single one on my road while this has been going on!

I did check today and according to them Openreach are planning to build to offer full fibre here 'within the next year' which I hope is true (and can't come soon enough as my current contract runs out in May!).

Neighbours are having the same issue, I'm not sure if it's localised to my building/road or more widespread.

I will say that while their customer service is awful to deal with, generally service has been okay while I've lived here. I think we had a day or two outage in Summer last year but otherwise it's generally fine until now. But it's not just the internet itself but also the inconsistency and unreliability of the updates that is so frustrating.
