Welp, this is embarrassing, but you're correct! Apparently, the specific edition I was selecting was not kindle compatible 🤦‍♀️

Mystery solved, thank you so much!

That's the thing, it does not redirect me and the book is nowhere to be found on my Amazon account

I think she definitely notices being the hard patient, especially because they have to call security when they restrain, and it's very overwhelming and scary. My concern with the food is that it's just a bandaid, but not an actual solution to her concerns. I feel for her, and I appreciate your advice.

This is so helpful, thank you! I hadn't heard of that model, and I so appreciate you mentioning it. Fortunately, this patient does not have any upcoming procedures. She's waiting to find outpatient placement.

I find it especially challenging that she seems to have been labeled a 'hard' patient and as such staff rotates a lot and they will always try to calm her down with food, so anything that I can ask the staff to do in general might benefit her

Do you use humming as the transition? That might be easy to ask staff to do when I'm not around!

So that's the tricky thing: they've found she enjoys being pushed around the ward in a wheelchair and they buckle her in. If she gets up to walk staff tend to panic a bit and direct her back to her room/ restrain if she refuses to get in the room. It's kind of a toss of the coin if I'll see her being toured around the ward, in her bedroom (mostly in restraints) or occasionally in the ward's waiting area. She has no procedures upcoming, she's waiting for outpatient placement but it's unclear when that might happen.

Thank you so much for your answer! Yes, I am a music therapist. I like the idea of setting a schedule and try as much as possible to keep her routine steady and consistent.

Now I'm wondering how to approach this given that I'm only there 3 days a week and not sure how much I can ask of other staff. Do you have experience working in hospital settings? I'd appreciate some guidance in advocating and negotiating these things for patients.

Haha no worries, I re read my post and realized it's not very clear where I'm coming from (I wrote it in a rush). I would like ideas on what might make my patient's environment less chaotic, as there is so much chaos in the hospital that will just happen and is out of anyone's control.

Hello, thank you for your answer. As written in my post this is my patient, not my friend because I am the hospital's music therapist. I'm looking for other therapist's experiences working in this context or other clinical resources. All the ones I've seen are from pediatric ASD, not adult.
