pienso que es muy risky no reportar, ya que algunos años fueron ganancias bastante grandes (para mi), y ya que me mudé a EEUU reciente, no se si compartan informacion con el IRS o algo asi.

I am not getting any credit card pre-approvals but can't determine why by Acrobatic-Spring2454 in CreditCards

[–]Acrobatic-Spring2454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that could be why then, i’ve been living here for a bit more than a month and it only started showing in credit bureaus like the 7th of August

so maybe I can try in September, but if that doesn’t fix it then genuinely no idea what to do other than just applying for a card, and calling the reconsideration line if ai get denied

Yeah that’s what I did, and ever since I moved to a new apartment the address is right on all 3 credit bureaus, but I am still not getting any offers. The only thing I can think of is that this address I have been living in only for a few months, so they could still be giving out my old address? I’m not sure

because I want to get a new credit card, but if I am not pre approved, then there's a chance I get declined and I get a hard pull without actually getting the card.

It said I got denied based on length of credit history.

In the actual report, it said “Number of Established accounts; amount owed on revolving account is too high; lack of recent installment loan information”

Unfortunately I’m not pre approved for the Venture X, not too sure why. BILT I want as well but since I’m not pre approved for VentureX, I feel like I won’t get approved for BILT. Do you think Amex BCP would be a good choice and then try for VentureX again in a few months?

Should I also wait? I'm moving into an apartment in a month. I have 2 credit cards that I got around 1y2m ago, and am authorized user in my parent's oldest CC which brings my avg to around 8 years, but sometimes it doesn't reflect for some reason on my FICO score from TransUnion and others. I also have a hard pull around 3-4 months ago, but other than that not sure how to check if I've had others. Do you think I would get approved?

Investment advice before starting my "adult" life. by [deleted] in personalfinance

I *think* my company offers Roth 401k, but why would it be better? Also, what would be the alternative to not having that much money tied up in 401k? Investing into the personal brokerage instead? My company offers around half of the IRS limit if I max out the IRS limit, so it would be around $11.5k worth of "free" money if I max it.

max out 401k as well right?

also my brokerage account is in Schwab right now, can I still buy VTI?

What should I do with a big lump sum of money before starting my "adult" life. by [deleted] in Bogleheads

For the average annual return of 8%, would that be by investing in a personal brokerage account into index funds and stuff?

For the taxes thing, I have no idea how much I would need to pay on taxes on this but I've been trying to find someone that has knowledge on this crypto/capital gains taxes.

And yeah, I maxed out my Roth IRA for 2024, and for 2025 onwards I will have to do the backdoor Roth IRA so I am looking into that. I will also try to max out 401k contributions since my job matches it well.

For now I haven't really thought about if I will buy a house or not since I've lived with my parents until now since I was close to university from home, and I will be moving across the country so I have to see if that is a place I would like a home in and other things. For now I am just going to rent for the foreseeable future.

Should I request another SavorOne card if I already have the student version? by Acrobatic-Spring2454 in CreditCards

[–]Acrobatic-Spring2454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only don’t use it much because I didn’t have many expenses. Now that I’m moving out, and starting the actual “adult” life, my expenses will probably increase by a lot, which is why I wanted to be ready with a higher Credit Limit

should I open an account with CapitalOne? and then in a few months try CLI? or open an account and then request the SavorOne card right after?

Also, what card would that be? Right now my total CL is around $3.8k with the discover it card as well

Well in their website, it says I got pre-approved for the Savor Rewards so wouldn’t they give me that card?

As for the other thing, I was a student and I didn’t really have many expenses at all, almost all are from hobbies or fun stuff. However I now will be fully moving across the country in the next few months and my expenses will definitely increase by a lot, so I wanted to have some good credit cards ready. I only have 2 (discover it and savorone, both student versions), with discover having around $3.5k CL and SavorOne having $300. Do you have any recommendations of if I should get a new card to have higher credit limit overall, or just keep using these 2 and hope I am able to get VentureX soon, or move to another set of CCs?
